I asked this question because I was raised with strict manners, and see most people and their children are barbaric with not a thought in their head for others. I am surprised that 100% of you answered thus far, that you teach manners. Interesting.

If they are not taught manners our society will revert to barbarism back to the stone age. Manners are thoughtfulness of others feelings.

Absolutely! As a "civilized" society, manners will put you a step ahead of the "rude" crowd. We teach respect for yourself, your elders, your friends, etc. Phone manners, table manners, and social manners are all important in this day & age. As my daughter is approaching job interviews, it has often been observed that her manners are impeccable, and certainly an asset to any job environment. Not to mention she doesn't get in trouble at school because she doesn't "mouth off" at teachers or anyone else. She says "ma'am" & "sir", which is a surprisingly lost ability in todays youth. Manners should be taught & adhered to at a very young age. Once they're used to it, it becomes second nature and a valuable asset. If they don't learn it at home, they certainly won't be taught elsewhere!

As a child I had to learn every thing about manners. My parents put me in a Christian Private school starting at pre-k. I had to take after school table manners, and social manners. To say please and thank you. To say excuse me, to wait untill someone is done talking to talk to them, to not put elbows on the table, to put ur pinky up when you drink ect. I think that my parents went a little extreme, but manners are very important.
I hope I helped ♥♥Julie

yes! well i don't have children but as a teenager that has been taught to be well-mannered and polite at all times or at least when i should be i think it's important. i thank my parents for preparing me. also, it doesn't hurt to know and it will give your children advantage over others. teach them since they're young and it'll grow within them. later on it will make them an well-mannered adult.

yes!
My little one is 3 so we are still working on always sitting at the table to eat..and not leaving the table until she asks and using a fork and spoon not her fingers.
I am now making sure she looks at people and makes the proper greeting.

I have been strict about saying thankyou and not whining (asking for things nicely) for quite a while.

I think manners are important....well mannered peopleare liked more for one thing!

kids need to know that when ur Mom says no it is important to do as told.
when ur spouse says no it is important to
accept it. when a Cop holding a Gun says No. it is important to do as told.
Most kids aren't told that they are not the Center of the universe and force hurts when u do something wrong.
my kid learned yes Mam no Sir and I do not understand Sir early.
any kid coming to our house are read the Rules of the house.
those who do not want to play by the house rules leave , are ask to leave, or never return. No lose on my side.
boys visiting here must wear their pants at hip or higher level (suspenders are supplied) .
Would u hire a person who expose them self as a means of clothing style?
people who do not learn manners are left by the side in the real world . PC junk doesn't rule.

absolutely! We have a rather large family but even if we didnt, every single one of them needs to know correct table manners, courtesy manners and social skills. Correcting their behavior now will save them alot of embarrasment in the future and help their self confidence as well.

It is very important, my hubby's little brothers are 5 & 4 and we stay on them all the time to say please and thank you, and they always give me a big grin when we don't have to remind them. It gives them a sense of pride I think.

We will start teaching out little one manners as soon as he is old enough.

Have a good day!

Yes, I try to teach them...seems they need lots of reminders sometimes. But we are working on it. Its a pet peeve of mine when kids (or anyone) don't use manners.
