Usually takes at least 3 days for the medicine to build up in her system. You should be seeing some changes in the next day or so.

I wouldn't call the doc to say that it is not working. Don't forget that it is a penicilin, and you have to give it a little bit of time. You will not see a miracle change in a day from when you first gave it to her.

The fevers, however, you might wanna get some sort of children's advil, motrin or what have you. Or, a trick that has always worked on me and my kids, grab a colth and with some cold water, wipe her body down and her forehead, face, and see if that will bring down her temp. As well, do not allow her to get any water in the ears. This could be the cause as to why you don't see a change.

Maybe wait for one more day and then call- it should have had some affect by now. I know with my oldest the amoxil never worked and I would have to go back and the ear infection would have developed into a double and then they would put him on augmentin or ceclor. I had to almost beg them to forget about the amoxil so I didnt have to keep coming back, after it happened a few times they realized I was right!! Hope she feels better soon!

Generally they say you will start to feel better in 48 hours so if she is showing signs of improvement but the fevers haven't completely gone away, it's probably working fine. Give it more time. If it's a 2 week course and she's been on them a week or so and you're not seeing improvement, call the dr. back and let them know.

maybe now and let the doctor know she keeps getting fevers. But until then I will give u some tips. Its from a book called "What to do when ur child gets sick" ,by Gloria Mayer,RN and Ann Kuklierus,RN.For earaches Tylenol for pain and fever. Give ur child a lot of liquids to drink, let ur child get a lot of rest, make sure shes given the meds doctor presibed and the right doses.for the fever give her popsicles and cool drinks, dress ur child lightly, keep the child's room cool, keep check of ur child's temperature every 4 hours put ur child in lukewarm water and give her a sponge bath for 10-15 min. Stop the sponge bath if the child starts to shiver. and Do not put rubbing alcohol in the sponge bath water.Good Luck and God Bless.

Normally you should see some improvement in 48 hours BUT with a toddler that is impossible to judge. Pain is pain, your toddler isn't going to tell you it is slightly less painful today but it still hurts -you know.

So I would say give it 5 days, then improvement should be visible through an exam. Of course if you think it is getting worse, go back immediately.

If it's been 3 days and nothing has happened i would reccommend seeing a doctor, there is a possibility that your daughter's immune system wont let it do it's job or that she is allergic to it.
