I wouldn't say that it's unethical, but I wouldn't say it's safe. As women get older, the chromosomes in their eggs get "sticky". Meaning that there is more room for error when the DNA replicates and the sex cells go through Mitosis and Meiosis. When this happens the chances that the baby will be born with birth defects and/or disease increase. If hopeful mother was trying to use another woman's egg, it would be best if the woman was around her age, if not younger.

I personally don't have a problem with it. The mother has had the eggs frozen for future options that may be 20 years down the road! I think it is wise planning just in case the daughter wants to utilize it. If something happened to the mother, the eggs are still available. Like the article said, most mothers would donate an organ for their child, why not eggs? Again, this is just for "future" options, it's not a "done deal". I applaud her for thinking ahead for her daughter.

I don't see the problem, aside from technical problems that may happen.

But ethically how is it any different than a sister or a stranger donating eggs. I guess *technically* the resultant offspring would be genetically the sister/brother of the woman who gave birth, not the child. But it isn't like that is going to lead to inbreeding or anything.

Now if a woman wants her brother to be a sperm donor, then you have some inbreeding issues.

Considering the girl has turner syndrome, and will probably never be able to have her "own" children. What her mother did was a very caring and unselfish thing. It isn't any different then using donated egg's from someone you don't know, or a sister or friend.

thats really a q for the person doing it. to me its a good gesture but in my mind i would always know that it wasnt my baby. its good that they r still "related" but u could get the same results by adopting a child that is already here. to each is own...

I would do that if any of my daughters were infertile.
