We haven't used aluminum cookware for years. I have now thrown away all anti-perspirants, too. Aluminum is implicated as a cause of many diseases, including dementia. But why is aluminum foil still in use, even on the barbeque grill??? Is there an alternative?

I used parchment paper to line trays instead of aluminum foil.

For the barbeque I don't use anything. The meat goes right on the grill.

For a casserole that should be covered in foil, I place an oven tray over the casserole dish.

I hear a lot of strange things here but that one is new. Aluminum pans should not be used with tomato products as the acid erodes it. Other than that, I have never heard anything harmful about foil or pans made of aluminum. Teflon will hurt you more than that.

Wow. I didn't know aluminum foil would keep a room dark. I wonder if it would keep the heat out too. I must try it. I use TWO sets of drapes to keep my bedroom dark. The so called "room darkening" blinds and drapes don't do it. So I buy one set of room darkening drapes and put a cheaper set of curtains either in front or in back of it. I use two sets of curtain rods. One sticking out further than the other so you can slide them both closed or just one set closed; or both opened. Try it out on a different window in your house to make sure you like it. I know I like it as my house faces East into the hot sun. And it is an excellent room darkening option. Have the curtains you like the best face the street. Or get two sets of the same curtain if you like it very much.

FYI..if you are using a gas BBQ without foil, the danger is much higher of developing cancer.
