We had a Vegas wedding.. It was awesome and we did have a shower... It was thrown for us by a family member.. However, since you will be having a reception at home and for some reason you don't have a traditional shower your guests may give you cash... Which is always a good thing right !! You can still register I like Bed Bath and Beyond... They have an awesome instore registry/website and they have a really good return policy.. The registry stays online for a year after you are married and you also get discounts.. So, save your coupons you can use those as well as get 10% off total purchases.... I'd skip Target it wasn't that good and the registry is a pain.... That way when you send out reception invited at least a month in advance ppl know you've registered somewhere... *Another option if someone wants to throw you a shower and you haven't registered is a gift card shower..

I'm also getting married in Vegas in September!! My MOH is throwing me a shower in August at a tea house and we'll be having a casual bbq/pool party for the reception the weekend after the wedding.
Its totally proper to have a shower as long as you don't host it yourself! Congrats and Good Luck!

should you have a shower?? thats up to your friends to decide - not the bride. But, I would most likely say no, you are having a reception when you get back - do you plan on having bridesmaids there? then they would be the one throwing the shower if they choose - otherwise - if you don't have bridesmaids - I would say the shower is out.
congrats on the wedding!
i'm marrying in vegas this next weekend.

Suz is 100% accurate. You don't plan your own showers, just the reception. This is the downside of having a destination wedding or eloping, you don't normally get a shower or bachlorette party.

Someone would throw you a shower, but only those attending the wedding itself would be invited, even if it's just those few close family members who are attending in Vegas. You make your choice, you reap the consequences...

The bride does not get to decide about showers. If your friends wish to host one for you, that is wonderful. You do not get to plan it. The hostess or hostesses will plan it.
If no friends step up to host the shower, then you do not get a shower.
The same applies to bachelorette parties. If your friends do not plan it, then you do not get one.
The reception after you get home is a good idea. And yes, you do get to plan that one. =)
Good luck to you.
