No you don't try to remove it.
Every Soldier is supplied with a first aid kit. When you go to training you will be taught to TREAT injuries, but not to perform surgery on yourself. You dress the wound and if you can continue with your missions do so, otherwise wait for medical aid.
Sometimes having the bullet lodged where it is is better than removing it!

I am appalled at the way Saddam was treated...tried and executed within weeks of the verdict; no appeal or anything of the nature. The fact that the Bush administration seems to be enraptured by this is distressing to me, but then the Bush administration is not a shining example of true Christianity to me. Also, I only have the media and what the US government tells me to go on as to what Saddam did or didn't do. I don't trust either of them. And then again, if "assistance" is what the war in Iraq is/ was about, then why not help out Danfur and the other numerous peoples who are suffering under repressive regimes. I didn't see the US rushing to help out those being slaughtered during the Rwandan Holocaust. For this reason (and others), I question the Bush administration's motives concerning Iraq. War is repugnant to me...I think this should express my beliefs quite well.

I was a Medic in 1-26 infantry. Dont take the bullet out. you are suppose to dress the wound to try and stop the bleeding one way or another. Then asap seek a medic if he is not already there.(prolly is) every squad has at least one. Then a certified Dr or physician in the FAS (Forward Aid Station) will take it out and treat the wound and send you to the rear (the actual Aid Station) where you will receive some down time till the wound heals. Medics will never try and take the bullet out unless they have a surgeon or Dr with them its not part of their job. AND dont be stupid and try it yourself this could be suicide...your medic is your best friend in the 'hot zone'

Well if you can get it out your self go for it but i would say your chances of doing so are pretty thin and then you have know there is almost always a Medic close they will take care of that issue for you. You been watching to many rambo movies. Keep your head down and don't get hit then you don't have to worry about it. Maybe you need to Join as a medic.

Beleive me you will be in no shape to take the bullet out yourself. Thats the stuff you see in the movies. unless its a bleeder you; never perform surgery right then and there. You'll be on some good drugs or worse depending where you get shot.

Its best to wait until you get to a medic unit. They have the proper equipment to remove objects. Due to the likely hood of that bullet hitting or lodging into tissue or close to nerves its best to leave it in until you get to the medic.

Depends on how serious the wound is.
But, of course, you're kidding.
You don't go into the service with the idea of getting shot You don't even go into battle with that thought. Ever hear of a self-fulfilling prophesy?

Sadly for you, you have much more chance to get a sharpnel coming from a RPG or IED than getting shot at... Gun shots are far from being frequent over there, due to the tactics used to fight the US conventional army.

Depends on where you are shot and how long till you are rescued. I don't think you would want to dig a bullet out of your lung.
