We bought a very fun looking rocket, and my 3-year-old daughter has enjoyed playing with it and 'flying' it through the air. Does this firework pose any explosive or other danger to her if played with before lighting?

YES, when made it was not ment for kids to play with. The inside has gun powder which is harmful and there is no telling how many chemicals are on the outside. Just handling the rocket the child can get the chemicals on its her hands and then put hands in mouth not to mention what can happen if she puts the rocket directly into mouth.

I think yes especially if somebody nearby is smoking a cigarette. besides you will never know if the child especially his age will explore some more and open up the rocket or contaminate his hands with powder from the rocket and maybe out it in his mouth. I have heard of reports of children accidentally harming himself because of playing with an unlit fireworks.

Would you let your kid play with an unlit piece of dynamite? Or a safety razor? Or a pack of cigarettes? Answer these questions first...

And keep in mind that the next time your daughter sees a rocket, lit or unlit, she's going to try to play with it.

My suggestion is to keep it away from her. It saves more fingers that way.

Yes, if she bites the rocket, some harmful chemicals will be ingested by her. Also, some of the fireworks are shock sensitive and may explode on impact.

So, it is very important to keep such dangerous toys from children.

Yes - it is an explosive. It's like playing with a grenade with the pin still in - not a good plan.
