I was just wondering, because a lot of you here have expressed vehement anti-American sentiments. Just curious. I'm personally trying to take my kids to see the fireworks tonight and hopefully, survive.

I am Muslim, not anti-American, and I will be taking my kids to the fireworks while wearing my hijab, insha'Allah.

Personally, I think the principles our country was founded on are wonderful. I think, however, that people in our government mess things up, much like the Taliban gives Islam a bad image. But it doesn't mean that I don't love my country--it means that it is more important than ever that I vote and campaign for the right candidates.

Some will, because they were born and raised in the USA and are comfortable with cultural customers. And they like Catholics and Baptists love fireworks and picnics and BBQ's.

Some who came over as immigrants may not because it is not familiar to them. They may claim Islamic law forbids taking part in such celebrations but that is not all together true.

They do.

A friend from work is having his family over to grill burgers and polish sausages...I was messing with him and said "Hey I got your Polish right here buddy!"
so he flipped me off....LOL

Anyways, as far as we know, nobody has even flicked a booger at anyone in the name of allah here in the States since 9/11. There have been foiled plots of course but how is it possible that not even a tiny incident has occurred here? Nobody's been shot, stabbed, poisoned, run over, house burned etc.....in the name of allah....you'd think in a big country with a LOT of people even something small would have happened by now.......the gov't is doing it's darnedest I suppose but with a million more agents they couldn't stop any of the things I mentioned from happening.

Trust me I'm glad nothing's happened but your apprehension is unnecessary....enjoy the show!!

Side note-----in an earlier question, somebody said that 2 people dressed as muslims blew themselves up outside of a Chicago stadium in the last couple of years.....do any of you know of this or have a link? Thanks :-)

Do American Jews celebrate it?

Do American Christians celebrate it

Do American Buddhists celebrate it

Or is it a national, rather than religious celebration?

I know of many who do because the US is their country too. I personally celebrate few holidays. To me it's just another day.

Why should they celebrate it as they do not believe in nations?

They have their own special way of celebrating it. "Fireworks" to a Muslim is a completely different thing.
