It will hurt for sure! I've had my lower back and behind my neck done, tribal as well, and they both hurt. It's not like I cried or anything, but I felt it...It wasn't while getting it done, but rather afterwards. Your skin will feel tight and itchy, as it heals and will be sensitive in that area. As she/he is doing the tattoo outline first, it will give you a sense of what pain tolerance is, and then when they fill it in, the pain subsides a little. Make sure you are well nourished, alcohol free, and drink lots of OJ or water. before you get it done. This will help with the healing process. Follow all the steps that they give you for aftercare, to ensure the long lasting beauty of your new tattoo. Keep bandaged for 2 hrs, remove bandage, and wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove all surface blood, and excess soap and PAT DRY. DO NOT REBANDAGE. Apply a light coat of antibiotic ointment, 4 times a day. Discontinue if reaction. Do not use, peroxide or vaseline DO NOT rub, pick or scratch your tattoo when healing. DO NOT let your tattoo dry out as it will scab up and you will end up losing colour. And DO NOT tan or expose to direct sunlight, swim in chlorine pools or salt water, soak in a hot tub or bath tub, shower only...After the dry skin has come off there will be a period of adjustment for the new skin. Since you took great time and care in choosing your tattoo, take the time to care for it too. Enjoy the experience! PS~ from your detail, it sounds like it'll be sweeeeeet!

how 'bout 7/5/07?...........
Once again, no one can tell you that it is going to hurt. Only you will be able
to answer that when you're getting it
done.
I love the answer "the darker the color,
the more it hurts".............lmao
where's the common sense to that one.
It's gonna take some time, so depending on the schedule of the tattooist, you may have to go for more
sessions.....and the tat must completely heal before you go back.
Hopefully you can get it done in one session. That's a good thing too, cause
that area will be numb a little after it is
started.

take care of it...and enjoy

I`m afraid it is going to hurt alot. Especially as it`s all black and it`ll be done on the bone. I suggest you take a few pain killers before you go but even that won`t touch it. Good luck x

It wont hurt worse than any other tattoo. Yes there will be pain, but mostly on the sensitive skin area like the under arm.

Good luck to you!

ofcourse. You know that. I think you just wanted people to know about the tattoo. Yes it hurts, it really is just an annoying feeling and it gets like numb after awhile, then when you reach certain areas it hurts worse then others but you'll get thru it. goodluck

Of course - I would suggest taking a couple of diazepam if you can get your hands on them before you go. Its a relaxant so it does help a bit.

Brandi - its still 04/07/07 here in the UK!

Tribal tattoos are overdone!.. Everybody already has one! You need to really think about this, Tattoos are forever!! Thats a lot of ink, a lot of time, a lot of money and a LOT OF PAIN. Mostly in and around you armpit, That'll be the worst part!! Why don't you get a Henna tattoo of what you want your arm to look like first, live with it for a few weeks and decide if its what you really, realy want. THINK ABOUT IT!

From what I have been told by tattoo artists and friends that have gotten them, the closer it is to the bone the more painful it is.

So if your thin it will hurt more then if your heavy because there is less fatty tissue to pad the bone.
