The problem here is that word....religion. Anything can be a religion. Religion is a ritual or a set of practices done over and over again to achieve a desired spiritual, emotional, biological, or cosmetic effect. For instance, combing ones hair is a religious practice. Its done every day as a part of a regimen to achieve a cosmetic effect. Going to a church on Sunday, dressed to the nines, with a pious uppity attitude without compassion or love for people is also religion. It's done over and over to achieve a spiritual effect but unlike hair combing it ultimately has no effect! Additionally, the people who do not bring God into their everyday lives but keep Him as a Sunday thing are missing the true RELATIONSHIP that God wants with us all. Religion is fruitless and isn't the correct definition for those who truley have a relationship with God. That said I'll say that the tooth fairy and santa clause only have witness from deceived religious people who reject a true relationship with God.

What do you mean exactly by "went the same way as the tooth fairy and santa clause"?

This is grossly unfair to the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus. Give me examples of where either of those two have caused wars, persecuted non-believers or told people that they (the people) are inherently sinful.

Stand up for Toothie & Santa!.

You are right ....to a degree.
Christendom would have us all believe without understanding.
However, christendom has been the most abominal representative that Christianity ever had!
Please note how John 17:3 speaks against being ignorant.
"This means everlasting life, the taking in of knowledge about ........."
The Bible is filled with comments encouraging study and learning and being aware.
Paul often wrote:
"I don't want you to be ignorant....."
So, the choice is really between accepting the Bible's point of view, or christendom's.

Although culture gets in the way of it sometimes, Islam requires us to seek knowledge, according to one hadith.

It's crazy political regimes and not the religion that prevents, say, women from receiving education (and I think that is S L O W L Y changing).

And when I say culture, I mean, for example, that I am the first woman in my entire family to receive a college education.

Actually most religions encourage study. But also to be satisfied/ accept the limitations of being human. You are not omnipotent- never will be (otherwise you would not be asking questions on Yahoo).
Wishing you peace
