Yes, they're what are known as snobs. They think that a brilliant education makes them better than everyone else and more deserving and that everyone else is common. But often they can be contradictive and you just don't know what they get up to behind close doors! Oh, and they push past you on buses, etc.

I don't think it has anything to do with the sound of a persons' voice. It basically boils down to their attitude towards other people. You can be well spoken and treat people with respect. At the end of the day, it's the attitude not the way a person speaks is what counts. I don't understand about the 'different set of rules'. But if you have respect for yourself and other people, why bother yourself about how anybody else lives? Be happy within yourself and let others live the way they want to. Good luck!

I think sometimes those people are getting put down just as badly.
Many times, those that are well spoken and well educated know a lot more then your average Joe.
So, imagine being in their shoes. They have to deal w/ dumb as dirt "know it alls" They probably are cringing inside.
Just think of a time in your life when someone tried to prove you wrong. If you knew what you were talking about w/ hard and true facts; you were probably very frustrated. You wished the person would stop trying to sound smart and listen to someone who knows. Some people can not admit they are wrong or they don't know anything.
So, those who might look down on some people, might be doing so b/c the other person is truly wrong. Sometimes we just have to put people in their place.

Absolutely yes.
Although they are not all like that. I know some very well read and well spoken folks who are a delight to speak to.
Most of the arrogant SOBs with whom I have to deal can often talk the talk but they can never walk the walk. That's when they show their true colours...

How does it matter what you sound like, as long as you treat people with the respect they deserve. I would say that a viewpoint such as you have expressed is very narrow in its outlook. I mean do you think you have to drop your aitches in order to be pleasant?

Yes. they have grown above law, order and basic mannerisms. I think that when you have an accumulation of money it kills that part of your brain noting what is socially acceptable.

Yes my inlaws. When they first met me they instantly decided I was a bad person and acted like they were royalty. (Most of them were druggies and alchoholics). They even went so far as to do a criminal background check on me. It was funny.

School attendance is mandatory in the U.S.
We all have an opportunity to learn our native language.
Unless one has a learning disability, there is no excuse for poor English skills.
Don't get pissed at me because I payed attention in class.
P.S. Thank you "lovepink222."
