Cute story.
I have had a couple of visitors from the UK here for a few days. Yesterday Romy jokingly said, 'how dare you celebrate your independence from us. You people didn't fight fair. You wore regular clothes and hid out in trees while we wore red coats with big hats and marched in a straight line.'
I loved it coming from a Brit.

My Brit husband calls it "Good Riddance Day". I heard a British comic on NPR a while back who turned the whole thing on its ear. He said the soldiers that fought for England were mostly Hessians (German). All of the colonists were British citizens, so in reality it was a glorious British victory over the Germans!

Dear Indians Why you peoples are celebrating the Independence day? Whether you got the independence? No. because, if you want to make any decision we want to beg with the officials and politicians. whether this is an independence. when every indian thinks that every human being has their own value then you think about the indepedence. Till that you belive that India is under control of cannibals who are behind money. Dr. Abdul kalam told that, India will be a greatest nation in the year 2020. but if you dream regularly also it will never happen and it will be a dream only. So think you are a INDIAN, and you born in INDIA. From A True Indian who is struggling to see a True INDIA before death. After making the INDIA perfect, then you celebrate the first independence day. Its not my word, its a word comes from every INDIAN's BREATHE Thanks for spending time to listen about yourself INDIAN

The Brits have a sense of humor, Sometimes a strange sense for example Monty Python, but still there all the same. We experienced that same feeling in Viet Nam. You could not always distinguish friends from enemy in the jungle. No, I did not serve, did not join and did not get drafted, but did not run either.
It is raining here in East Texas.

Hehe, that's funny.
I think if we're happy to have an independent country everyone should go hung a Frenchman today. If not for them, we would have lost the war.
Happy 4th, my fellow Americans. Go eat a hot dog, wave a sparkler, and keep pushing for the perseverance of the freedoms that this country should stand for. Remember: dissent is the highest form of patriotism!

I had a brit ask me one time why we celebrated the 4th... when our country was founded by a bunch of criminals...
I told her she was confusing us with Australia... that they sent all their religious nuts to the US. But, in light of the current state of the union, I think she was right... lol
Happy fourth, and I wish a relaxing and positive day for all...

Funny! At least they can joke about it. It's storming here today so I'm going to be a geek and watch Twilight Zone Marathon on Sci-Fi and finish my daughter's birthday cake, she turned 9 Monday.
Happy 4th everybody!!!!!!!
