It might be good to try at this age if you feel they are ready. Mine where trained at 25 months, 28 months and 26 months have a 14 month old now who will most likely start trying just after shes two, the fact that you have left it to nearly three means they are more likely to handle it and train quicker. Chose a week stay in keep the clothes off from the bottom, have a bottle of disinfectant handy and have fun training, I have to say from training my own it wasnt half as bad as I thought it was going to be, within just a week they had the hang of going to the potty. Goodluck :)

My kids were all 2 when they potty trained. When a child is ready they almost potty train themselves. Look for clues that they are ready. For example, removing their wet or soiled diapers, or bringing you a clean diaper when they need a change. Also, if they show an interest in the potty. Mine used to pull off their pants and sit on the potty (even tho they didn't go). If they show interest you will have a better chance at getting them potty trained.
Make an attempt to potty train now, if you think they are ready. If in a week you see no progress, you can stop and wait a few weeks and try again. Basically, if your child is not ready, it won't happen. Good luck!

Don't go by the standards. My oldest son is almost 4 1/2. He didn't start using the toilet until he was 3. Before that we did get him introduced by taking him all the time and having him see how 'Big Boy Daddy' does it. So he became familiar with the idea. It was very frustrating when he wouldn't use the toilet. We tried everyone's suggestions, what relatives said, other mothers said, and what the books said, and what the doctor said. But honestly, your little one there will be the one to say. Don't feel discouraged if she's not using the toilet as soon as you think she should. Every day let her sit on the toilet so she gets used to it but she will be the one to let you know. It may be another year down the road but it will happen. My eldest starting using the potty at 3, we got him out of underwear during the day right after his 4th birthday and just about a month ago stopped buying him undies altogether. We have to wake him up during the night to use the toilet but he is doing wonderfully! Just be patient and watch her for signals. Good luck.

Between 2 and 3 years old, most kids are receptive to potty training. My son will be 3 in August, and although we've been having him go on the potty some, we haven't been consistant enough so far, which will be changing very soon. I want him completely day-trained before I have my next baby in December! My son will *always* run to the potty to go if he's running around naked. If he has a diaper on, though, he doesn't even think about it, and just goes right in his diaper. So you might want to try letting them run around naked until they get the hang of things! Good luck!

i indroduced my first 2 kids to potty when they could sit on their own..between 6-8 months. The 1st 2 were trained and sleeping at night without diapers by 25-26 months.
the 3rd child will be 2 next week and she is only wearing at night, but quite often wakes up dry....she can hold pees and poohs until she gets to potty.
4th child is only 3 months so she is not started yet, but will follow my same pattern that has worked so well.
start them...if they try the potty...give them bare bottome time for 5 min. then try pot again...if no luck (and it will be just luck at first) then diaper back on. this will be encouragement, because all kids love to have bare bum...can u imagine living in plastic?
2 year old loves water and always wanted to wash her hands in the sink when i did...I told her No, when you use potty then you can too. so her rewards are, she gets tissue to wipe, she gets to fluch the toilet, wash her hands and then she gets a star sticker on a pc. of construction paper that i pinned in bathroom to resemble a calender. And then she gets a bare bum or big girl undies. she loves all the rewards and praise!!
good luck

My son is 16 months old, and I have already introduced a potty. I let him play with a cup when he was tiny and he was drinking from it by 6 months, so I am working on the same theory. He has had it for 2 months and knows how to sit on it, and if I ask where his potty is he gets it, so I think it is going ok so far.
