I wanted to do a one sentence answer like: They're so fun.
For true believers…they don’t have to…”go back”
like that! They're so fun.
But Batgirl makes a point. The fundie Christians (loud mouth, in your face Christians) have given casual Christians a really bad name. Not all christians are dumber than a dirt clod.
I can’t find the Q about when government was mixed with religion so here’s my A
I laughed when I read "freakzillallls implication that morals and responsibility had anything to do with religion. Funny!
Religion was mixed with government immediately after the invention of both at about the same time more or less about 7 or 8 thousand years ago.
The Founding Fathers tried to guide us away from this age old mistake but ignorance overcame their efforts and ..... here we are, repeating bad history.
Why supposedly modern people with the real opportunity to educate themselves cling to Mesopotamian reasoning is an interesting observation in terms of Human Dynamics.
Practically, however, the mix of religion and especially fundamentalism is scary as Hell and responsible for most of the carnage occurring in the world today and through history. This begs the question:
how long before our species advances enough to actually learn from our mistakes.

No, I would not.
The mistake some people make is lumping us all into one group. Believers of God are all different people with different opinions.
I know of very few Christians who would want all doctors burned. Most Christians view doctors as helping God heal people.
Very few Christians would want any of the things you mentioned carried out.
You seem to be attacking all "believers of God," as you put it.
Don't you think that's unfair?
Would you like for that to be done to you?
Some atheists' questions give off the desire that all Christians be burned and tortured. It would be unfair of me to assume that they all felt that way. However, this is what you are doing with this question.
You might want to qualify your query next time so as not to be misunderstood.
Blessings to you. I hope you truly do not think this is true of all Christians. If it is, you are mistaken.

Practitioners of medicine? You mean... doctors? Is that supposed to be a serious question?
No, I would not feel safer. All that persecution would accomplish would be to create nominal Christians. True repentance begins in one's heart, and that cannot be forced.

Only if it meant preventing atheists from starting another Inquisition against Christians.
Oh, wait- that WAS back in the Dark Ages.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Isaiah 29:9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

I"m sure they would like that in terms of being in control of everything. However, I wonder how many would like to go back to everyday living without modern technology.

I personally think it'd be cool to reinvent technology... at least from a moderate standpoint... we are getting so dangerously close to synthesis.

No, not at all.
If you look at religious history, you will a definite progression towards God. We were created as holy creatures, we became unholy through sin. Over time we have followed God, then Christ and continue to perfect ourselves through his salvation on the cross.
It's a journey...we have come so far and yet have far to go...but I wouldn't want to go back.

Ignorance is bliss for religious believers. Happy to be a jackass.
So yes they'll love to go back to those dark ages where religions ruled the world.
