An honest to goodness question: why does so much of what the Holy Bible (I'm kinda limited at the moment to the KJV), in its seeming understanding of Earth and its many glories, sounds so doggoned much like the voice of a man of the First Century AD? Gosh, whilst we're scarcely today where we'll be, say, in only a hundred years, or even in 50, our understanding of our little blue rock and our solar system and even our galaxy is leagues more advanced than they were a half-century ago, much less 2000 troubled years ago. My 10-year-old grandson knows much more about Earth than the pope in Rome did in AD 1956. I'm asking you 'cause I have learned to never expect an intelligent answer from der Fundy volk.

Things would be much better if the fundies actually had the mindset of the first century Christians, which was all about peace. I have a strong feeling most of them know hardly anything about those times, they are so indoctrinated in church biases and traditions.

The bible isn't as much about the solar system or the elements of the earth itself. It is all about God, how He created man, and how man can and should have a relationship with Him. It also teaches about the human condition and mistakes that were made by humans long ago that continue until this very day. Through God's wisdom it is full of remedies for sadness, hate, rejection, injustice, and emotional and spiritual downfalls. The book of Proverbs alone if read, received, and applied to every ones life would nearly annihilate every dumb mistake that people make in relation to one another. So I guess by now you realize that I am what you might call a "Fundy." I don't mind the nick names. They don't define or change me, my focus, direction, or destiny. But I'm more concerned that you miss the point by dismissing someone like me just because I've decided to seek and apply common sense truth to my life. It is because of the bible that I am able to live peacefully with my neighbor, forgive those who hurt me, and love beyond rejection. I'm sorry that so many find that to be a "First Century" idea and not the very thing that is needed in all people across this blue rock.

Each government, or gang that leads it's people, need religious radicalism and all it's First Century lingo, helps to maintain man's natural desire to 'sin' as the bible states. We as humans instinctively lie, cheat , steal, murder, and all the rest. So promise us heaven and the result, civilized society. . . Until, they need us for war or something stupid, then it's 72 virgins or something gay like that. Then murder...oh yeah all good! In the name of Allah or Jesus of course.....Population control!

First Century lingo is propaganda, and it works.

Did I blow your mind with my answer? Was I not completely articulate and clear in my statement? Mine is a level of intelligence hard to come by ..

I agree with you. People are not only stuck with first century superstition and ignorance, but what's sad is that they are proud of it and want to scientifically prove their ridiculous claims no matter how embarrasing it may seem.

Yes. And its very frightening. These Christians think that we should go back to the Dark Ages. How they can possibly think this is a good thing, I don't know.

I wouldn't mind it if it was merely tradition that kept people adhering to expired practises but most people really, truly believe the complete crap that their religions speak of.

No. Because you are not a believer you think everyone should think as you think. Well I'm sorry to say you don't have a thing on anyone else. They all believe everyone else should think as they think.
