If the car is still running you probably don't have electrical damage, and the combustion part of the engine is sealed.

I'd have the undercarriage lubed and checked for corrosion or loosened parts. Then I'd stop worrying about it.

*It is a generally very bad idea to drive into flood waters. I live in the States, and can report that dozens of people each year drown trying to cross flood waters. The current carries the car away and it sinks with the driver inside.

ok... you'd need to check both realistically, but the electrics should dry out nicely and so will probably not cause a problem... Just don't go driving if the electrics are damp or soaked.

As for the engine, providing you didn't take any water into the engine (and believe me... you'd know if you had!), you should be fine there too...

Just make sure eveything is dry, check the lights etc, make sure the engine still runs (check the oil in case any water got in) and then leave it running for a while to expel any dirt that may have gotten into the engine... And the heat will also help dry out the tricky electrics...

That should sort things out.

The first and most important thing you do is to check that your brakes are working correctly....that's what I was taught when I took lessons back in the 60's and it's what I did last week when I drove through water deep enough to affect my brakes...

I'd go and relieve myself - ooh, the sound of all that running water!
