I attended the service with the idea joining this church at the request of my girlfriend. I was ask to leave as soon as I walked in because I was not dress nicely. I left but my girlfriend and her parents were very upset at the church. Does this church have a dress code.

where you naked??? Im LDS, how old are you? The only reason I can think of is some stuckup old man thought you were a regular member of the ward and you didnt put your shirt and tie on. Did he know it was your first time? That person was a jerk and Im sorry. It wasnt meant in a "get lost" way Im sure, anyway Im sorry. Dress code is "sunday best" but "sunday best" is defined in many ways. i wear a suit and tie, girls normally wear a skirt.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience.
People are asked to dress nicely for church services out of respect for God. Generally someone shouldn't be asked to leave unless they are dressed immodestly or they were behaving badly. I don't know if that applied to you. It's possible that the person who kicked you out acted inappropriately. The Church is designed for everyone, even people who make mistakes. "They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick."
Hopefully you won't let a misunderstanding or an overzealous individual keep you from the truth.

I was in the LDS church for 4 years, not believing it much but I went there to find out if I believed in God. Yes, they do kind of have a dress code in that the ladies always wore dresses but I don't remember anyone saying that you had to dress a certain way.
I left that church and now belong to a Baptist church but there are many other church that teach that you must be born again to see the kingdom of God.
I recommend you reading this short message: http://www.mwtb.org/pages/display.php?id=200750
It will equip you in finding the right church for yourself.
Did you know that in the Bible it says not to believe a message from an angel about any new gospel message? This is how the LDS and the JW churches got there start.

It is my prayer that you will study this and get your girlfriend out of that church if possible.

They prefer a white collared shirts and ties or a suit.
You should definitely look to join a church because of your own beliefs not someone else's. This particular religion has very strict rules and beliefs that you should look into before making such a serious commitment.

I am surprised that your girlfriend and her parents would not have told you about this ahead of time. If they belonged to this church for any length of time, one would think they knew about it. So I don't understand why they'd be upset.
In addition, don't feel obligated to join a church because your girlfriend belongs to it. You aren't married. Also, I would do a LOT of research about Mormonism before I made a choice. (from non-Mormon sources) You won't learn everything by going to their church service. And by talking to them you'll only hear what they want you to hear.
God bless you on your journey.

I have never seen any one asked to leave because of their apparel. We even expect investigators to show up casually dressed.
I find the story suspicious because no one is baptized and begins wearing garments within a couple weeks.

All women must wear dresses and no boobs showing, no cleavage and skirts must go down to the knees at least. unliek my christian church wear some of the teens have cleavage and I want to get with the mom's and ask them if there daughter just got off a shift from the "Ho" side of town and how could they let their daughter walk out of the door like that.
We do have teen that are skatebaorders or goth or punks they seem to be tomboys and ate much more modes, but watch those mormons and next time tell your friend to inform you, do you don't feel embarrest, maybe she was embarrest herself to tell you of the standards, I dunno.

The mormon church is run and operated as a business with a tax exemption, so it is reasonable when you 'go to work' on a sunday, you look as professional as one of God's salesmen. Wearing underwear is a given, and good hygiene, too. Later on you can get the sacred version, but even I try to look like I didn't just wash my car at a meeting.
I go for the formal look: dress hawaiian shirts , tan chinos, and sandels. I like to show off the bullet hole scar in my foot.

Well now, in Acts 10:34,35; “... Peter said: 'I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him'.
And who does God invite into his Kingdom? “... then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ (Luke14:21).
