And if so, should we all pick different topics and exchange the files with each other so we've got a nice stack to hand out?

Who'd like what topic?

I think I'd like "Jesus, the lack of evidence"

Actually, the Freedom From Religion Foundation already publishes a number of pamphlets to hand out to religionists who come to the door. They can be found through a search. The pamphlets they offer are articulate, and some are downright hilarious (to us atheists anyway).
I'm going to make a paper to hand to the various religionists who ignore my "No Solicitors" sign and interrupt my dinner. It will say:
"You are trespassing. If you don't get off my property within 10 seconds, I will call the police and have you arrested. I will also pursue the complaint until you are prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. You are directed to inform your church this property is OFF-LIMITS."

Of course you should be allowed to do that True science doesn't contradict the Bible btw [factual science... not human theory] Bring your pamphlets around to my house any time you like I'll put the kettle on You can even wear your pyjamas if you like Oh, and ...Jehovah's Witnesses, young or old, don't 'bombard' anyone with literature Haven't I told you a million times not to exaggerate?

If you wish to do so, that would be fine. If you knock on my door with your message, I would be happy to hear you out.

You should know, however, that if you wish to do this, you need to get up out of your bed, get dressed, and go out to proclaim your message just as the so-called "door knockers" do.

I find your topic - Jesus: The Lack of Evidence - very interesting indeed. Perhaps you have a tidbit or two that you can share here in the form of another question? Sort of a tease, if you will, a thought-provoking fact of some sort. To get us ready for the full exposure.

Actually, an atheist stood outside my church one Sunday with a sign and handed out pamphlets as people were exiting the parking lot in their cars. He might have wanted to try a more receptive target audience.

Hey! I was gunna ask this! Ah well, I'll probably ask later anyway.

Yes. I think we should. Absolutely. AND I think we should tell them that as a condition of putting up with THEIR proselytizing, they'll have to sit through at least 5 minutes of examining OUR pamphlet information BEFORE we move onto theirs.

I think it should be a collaborative effort. We should all work together to create several different reality pamphlets (I think we should call them reality pamphlets, what do you think?) that are both intellectually and visually appealing. I think Loka should do the artwork, she seems to be quite adept at Photoshop.

My favorite response recently to 'door knockers' was my husband's: when asked if he would like to talk about Jesus he just said 'No, we won't be talking about that today, thank you' and they didn't even protest. Imagine it with a British accent.......yes he's British..........and I'm not an atheist either. It was hilarious.

Actually, here is a website that has several "anti-tracts" that resemble Jack Chick tracts.

I think there is a way to order them, or to print them out and print them yourselves.

I have thought about ordering some, and leaving them anywhere I find a Jack Chick tract. Or giving them to anyone who gives me one.

I think that's a good idea but I would rather much prefer to banter with them face to face when they come knocking at my door. I just want to watch them backtrack and mumble when asked about something they can't prove.
