If you ask an 'internet' mormon, they'll tell you this is absolute nonsense, or "it hasn't been revealed". Ask a chapel mormon and you'll hear that this is the most wonderful of all the eternal blessings. Obviously there needs to be a open dialog here, but don't hold your breath. Here's some of the more obscure qoutes from the church's publications:

“We were first begotten as spirit babies in heaven and then born naturally on earth” (Journal of Discourse, Vol. 4, p. 218).

Joseph Smith said Women will be Eternally Pregnant - Ladies: Is this your idea of Good News? "A question may be asked, ‘Will mothers have their children in eternity?' Yes! Yes! Mothers, you shall have your children." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, page 10).

“Among the spirit children of Elohim, the first-born was and is Jehovah, or Jesus Christ, to whom all others are juniors” (Gospel Doctrine, p. 70).

“If none but gods will be permitted to multiply immortal children, it follows that each God must have one or more wives. God, the Father of our spirits, became the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh” (Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 158)

The Father begets; the Son is begotten; they are Parent and Child” (Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, Vol.3, p.138)

Apostle Bruce McConkie wrote, “For our present purposes, suffice it to say that our Lord was born of a virgin, which is fitting and proper, and also natural, since the Father of the Child was an immortal Being ... He is the Son of God in the same sense and way that we are the sons of mortal fathers. It is just that simple” (The Promised Messiah, pp. 466, 468)

Heber C. Kimball, who was a member of the First Presidency explained: “. . . then we shall go back to our Father and God, who is connected with one who is still farther back; and this Father is connected with one still further back, and so on . . .” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 5, p.19).

Orson Pratt further explains “In the heaven where are spirits were born, there are many Gods, each of whom has his own wife or wives, which were given to him…while yet in this mortal state ”(Orson Pratt, the Seer p.37).

Looks like the official view of the position of womens by the church leaders was simply on their backs.

hahah Im Mormon, nice question. Anyway to put it straight, death is just one step for life. So after we die, our spirit and bodies are seperated. Body in the ground, spirit in the spirit world waiting to ressurection/judgement etc (think of a glove without a hand, the glove is the lifeless body).
Once we are ressurected (all poeople no matter what they have done in this life) our spirits are joined with our now perfected bodies. Which means we can do normal things like eat if we want etc. Because we continute our family bonds, we are not just married "until death" like all the wanabe priests say, but "for all time and eternity" which means families are forever. So if you want, you can have babies, as well as eat, and study and whatever you want to do.
Its pretty simple, but you should avoid believing what you read on here, most people are anti religion let along anitMormon. check out the church website

If Christ is the "son of God", and he's our "Father", ever wonder if there was a mother involved???

Mormons believe that before the "final judgement" people will go to paradise (aka heaven) or prison (aka hell) while they await judgment.

After the Judgment they'll be assigned to one of 3 kingdoms, each differing in glory, abilities, and responsibilities.

Those in the highest kingdom can be married for eternity and have offspring.

Mormons cannot fathom a God who cannot produce children without a wife, or just out of nothingness, or that they themselves will not become like him. They insist that this is possible and I really think that thinking you re a God, takes your eyes off of him and off of the one oerson that can help you thru alot of thing sin your life, so they go about their lives trying to proves they are perfect and like a God ad wonder why they are depressed all the time and why Mormon central is the most populated hotspot for mormons to be on anti-depressants and in theraphy. My mom was depressed and after I left the house she finally got on some anti-depressants, my Dad is still an undignost OCD, my parents still will not explain why my brother is so violent and I know that I am OCD as well.

The part about being eternally pregnant and having babies is Ed Decker (anti-Mormon supreme) twisted take on the Celestial Kingdom. We don't know how spirit "children" are "conceived", but the Celestial Kingdom is supposed to be the ultimate in happiness and joy, so if we are to be "eternally pregnant" it won't EVEN be like pregnancy here in mortal life, the "curse of Eve" I call it. As for "spirit babies", I doubt it will be like he portrayed it, as changing endless nappies (no doubt filled with spirit poop or something!). But, I like babies, so, who knows?
