Yes, cockroaches will bite people sometime. They will pee on the person after they bite. I saw it before, and just like your friend; it will create the rashes afterward. Usually if you just KEEP rub the area with alcohol or antibiotic cream or the insect first aid cream, you will be fine. Cockroaches will go after food. When you just spell drink or food on you, and take a nap on the floor; you are capable to get one on you. Especially at night. They like damp and dark places. If you ever woke up with a red bump around your eye, most likely you just got bit by one last night. It went after the water in your eye. The other option to get bite by one is if you try to hold it. Keep your floor clean, and keep underneath your sinks dry. Don't leave the food out at night or any time. If you see Cockroaches in your house that means there are eggs somewhere, and they will be multiple with a lot more of them. Sometime they came in when you bring boxes of something from outside. Boxes of fruits from the market or something you stored away and want to use it. Look out for anything like that before you bring in the house. Sometime they just came in through the crack of your house, or just came in when you open the door. Spray!!! spray!! spray!!! big time. Ask me about the spiders next time. I will tell you in a details also. While Cockroaches are almost harmless, some spiders are deadly. Both are capable to be in your house and bite you.

First: go see a doctor about this bite, if it's that bad then some anti-biotics should be give.
Second: if the roaches are this bad, maybe it's time you either move or fumigate. Get some bombs from Wal-Mart and follow the directions.

She should go to the doctor, allergic reactions to cockroaches is actually a common thing, but if the area is hot it indicates there might be an infection, and in that case she should probably get some antibiotics.

I doubt it. I imagine they're like mosquitoes in that matter. You would think that a mosquito that bit an hiv positive person would transmit that to the next person it bites, but it doesn't.
