There's this girl I know and I've liked her now for quite a few months. I want to tell her how I feel but there's a slight difference. She's Filipino and I want to learn how to say it, and then say it to her in Tagalog.

Is this a good idea or the worst idea in the history of mankind?

I think it's sweet, and as long as you get a trusted source and perhaps keep it short so that you don't get too flustered or confused and tell her that you've just eaten a chicken or something lol!

She will probably really appreciate the sentiment that you made this effort for her. I know it's a bit of a lame comparison, but when I'm on holiday and speak some of their language (french and spanish mainly) as much as I can in cafes/shops, even a little bit brings a smile to their faces because they can see that you're trying!

Best wishes with the language lessons!

Mahal kita = I love you in Tagalog!

Dude dammit we could'nt be more similar. I'm german but I got a filipina girlfriend. I also speak Tagalog fluently. I lived there for 10 years so I already know the psychology of the people there. Here's my advice: If you really like her always be there for her. Ask her how her day was every evening. And try to be with her as much as possible because based on my experiences with Filipino girls that kicks in real good. You don't need to say it to the girl as long as you show it really hard that you like her. And then if you notice that she also asks you out or wants to have constant communication with you, say it to her. But be careful don't be too aggesive casue some girls don't like that. Just show it to her that you like her and everything should work out fine. Good luck!!

Just say it to her in a language she understands. Don't try to be someone you not. That's a turn-off for most girls but not all of them. Just tell her how you feel and if she feels the same way, then........... the story ends with two Love Birds

I would find it more romantic if it was said to me in the mans language, i.e if an Italian guy was declaring his love for me I would like to hear it in Italian! Not some broken English he had tried to learn in my opinion would sound a bit daft.
