Apparently the majority feels they're entitled to siphon their religious doctrine directly into our secular law. Oh, how lucky we are to live in a land that guarantees religious freedom. Yes, we're all free.... free to live by the dictates of the CHRISTIAN faith. How good it is to be free!
P.S. CJ is high-larious! He can't be serious, can he? I mean, you can't complain about "prayer being forced out of school" when it's inclusion was unconstitutional to begin with! And the "homosexual agenda"? Wow. I didn't know any sane person still used that expression. Gay agenda.... HA.... that's a classic. That's like saying "Tall agenda" or "Red hair agenda". What the hell is a gay agenda? Telling people the TRUTH about homosexuality, the truth that the APA has been announcing for MORE THAN 4 DECADES? Oh, wait, why should we trust that and every other psychological authority on the face of the planet when we can reference their BIBLE and instead of teaching them the facts, encourage school children to think of homosexuals as "abominations"??

How interesting... yet every question you seem to have you are impossing your beliefs and your moral code on the rest of us. Why can't you leave the Christians alone? Let's make it even more to the point... Why can't you leave anyone with a religion alone and quit telling them that their moral code is wrong?
This is a free world. Ok, not all of it, but this cyber world is free and we all have freedom of expression. We have the right to post as long as we abide by the regs set down by Yahoo. You have the right to agree and to not agree.
You also have the free will to skip over any question which you find to be troublesome and will cause you ire. I do it all the time! Of course, this just begged to be answered...sorry.
I have my religion, Christianity, and I have my doctrine, Lutheran, which I hold to very strongly. Most of us do not see it as our place to correct everyone and tell them they are in the wrong. I can tell you what I believe, but it is not my job to force it down anyones throat or to judge someone. Jesus told us that only those without sin can judge.
As for the laws of a country... every country has a moral code which does influence it's laws. If you don't like the laws in the country you are in, MOVE!!
Let's face it... every religion/spirtitual group has their version of the "Golden Rule" - treat others as you wish to be treated. Is that such a bad thing?

Happy Fourth of July, America. It's always been someone else's business here. We can't help it - it's the American way.
Oh, America...
Where we celebrate diversity, as long as you're quiet about it, and are willing to live by our religious morality. Where we make (or attempt to make) 2000 year old morals into law. Where we have the right to tell everyone they're wrong, and persecute them for their beliefs, when they don't match those of the majority. Where our president can bypass any law he chooses, and free his friends from the evils of a justly deserved prison sentence. Where freedom of religion only seems to mean "As long as you are a Christian". Where a former president can say "Atheists should not be considered citizens or patriots."
Why do they come to R&S? Sense of superiority, maybe. Makes them feel good to say we're all wrong.

True Christians, that is those who follow the Christ, are neutral when it comes to involvement in political issues and activities. Thus they do not try to legislate morals, which is really quite impossible anyway. They follow the pattern set by Christ and his first century disciples who themselves did not become involved in trying to shape or change laws by which they had to live. This even though they were under the painful yoke of the Roman empire. That first century Christians were neutral is fairly well-attested to by secular historians: “The Christians stood aloof and distinct from the state, as a priestly and spiritual race, and Christianity seemed able to influence civil life only in that manner which, it must be confessed, is the purest, by practically endeavouring to instil more and more of holy feeling into the citizens of the state.”
Notice the statement "by endeavouring to instil more and more of holy feeling . . . " Thus followers of Christ, while not trying to shape and change laws, did share with people what they themselves had learned from the greatest teacher who ever walked this earth. The people, in turn, based on the good news shared with them, could change their own hearts - or not.
Why get on Yahoo Answers and tell others how bad they are, you ask. People come onto Yahoo Answers with questions, many are sincerely seeking answers. Is it not reasonable to respond to the questions?

I don't agree with religious based oppression, but I will say this. I thank God for a moral code.
It allows me to walk around and generally know that I won't be murdered tomorrow. I know that my street is safe. This is all because of Laws that were in response to a moral code. Thou shalt not kill...has done me wonders.
Thankfully, we don't have to listen to religious fanatics in this country and when it comes to laws we generally put a filter on all the people that want to kill the gays and pagans. :)
I guess I let people exhibit their hate...only because if they express it out loud, they may someday come realize what they are saying...it's better than if they kept it to themselves and never got tested against the opinions of the rest of the world.

The very nature of religion is to force it on others. It's called being righteous. And jerks. Every religion does it. Name one that doesn't want recruits.

Tell me that you are not trying to shape the laws we must live by. Whether driven by science, religion, whatever, everyone tries to influence others. Tell me you don't try to influence others. How we go about it, of course, is important. Absolute respect for the other is essential.
Telling someone they are going to hell is just another way of saying nyeh-ne-ne-ne-ne-ne, although one is free to think whatever she wishes. Such claims are counter-productive and alienate people. Such judgments are unequivocally NOT anyone's call to make.
The mere fact that you are here, reading and writing, is proof that you and all of us are trying to influence others.
Finding the balance that everyone can live with is key.

1. If you want to be "left alone", why do you stay on this site in this category?
2. No, I will not leave the gays alone - because I CARE. There is ONE true God, and He says homosexuality is a sin. I will tell that to the world, but then its their choice.
3. Same with pagans.
4. I also like having sex - I just like to obey God more.
5. There is ONE thing you are missing here - there is ONE truth, whether you believe it or not, and the consequences for your choice will be the same, whether you believe it or not. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ.
My friend, Jesus loves you and wants to have a relationship with you, but He will not force Himself onto you, even though its a life and death decision you make in whether you choose to reject Him or not.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and moral viewpoints, but these things are subjective. Where people go wrong is in claiming that, because they believe in a magic sky fairy, their values are somehow more valid or more true than other people's.

Really?
The last time I checked, pagans were involved in eliminating school prayer, through legislation. Is that not forcing your views on us? What about homosexuals going into the schools and forcing their agenda onto our children without the knowledge and consent of their parents? All in the name of "tolerance" , and perhaps contrary to the parents teaching. Is that not forcing something on us?
Teens become pregnant out of ignorance daily. Secular people teach "safe sex" which obviously does not work. Christian teach abstinance, which indeed works.
If you want to be a sex driven homosexual, then go for it. But you can't cry that we're forcing our views on you, when you are guilty of the same thing. Dispute what I'm saying? Go read your post..........your entire agenda is right there.
