since bout 10th grade (i just passed out from 12th) i do this weird thing - the photographs in my room, even the faces on magazines and all and photos n all...i feel like they r watching me...n whenevr im doing something i feel the need to turn them all away in a direction so they can't 'see' me....it used to be much worse..i remember, im 10th or 9th there was a time i felt i couldn't strt my work until i turn all the 'faces' away from me. its much better now...and had stopped complety until just yesterday,i found myself turning the mags in my room so tht the model on its cover would quit 'looking' at me...im spooked out. is this a sign of mental illness?..im 17yrs old.
shd i worry?...wht do i do? my parents wd NEVER agree for a mental check up...
actually i think this strange behaviour may hv triggered when i was in 7th or 8th grade. whenever the pictures 'look' at me i start feeling embaressed or guilty. why the hell does tht happen??

Adolescents go through a phase in their development where they believe that everyone is watching them or that everyone gives a damn about them, like the world revolves around them. It's very normal to feel this way especially if you are feeling insecure about yourself maybe the way you look or how you feel about who you are as a person.l

Do you feel this way around your friends or families or when people take your picture? If it's disturbing you very much, seek help. At 17 years old you do not need your parents permission to see a professional, but really, it's nothing to worry about. Learn to rationalize and calm your anxieties.

Stand nonetheless and breathe in by way of your nostrils and respiration out by way of your mouth. this is a yoga workout at the same time as stretching so even by skill of respiration like this this is totally destressifying. this is substantial you seem for what triggers the outbursts btw. stable success ^^

Not mentally ill, but it is a little weird. My recommendation is to take all the pictures down and put them in albums, so you can look at them when you want to. Put up scenery or something that doesn't bother you. Magazines can be put in a drawer or on a shelf so they are not constantly looking at you, too.

Paranoia can affect anyone, no matter what age. Tell your MD about it; s/he will be able to talk to you about it. Don't just "kind of" mention it, either. Be open and honest about it the same way you were here, and you should get some help. Good luck!

(I kind of feel the same way sometimes, by the way.)

talk to someone who can relate to this. It is important in this case to talk to an individual who may have also had similiar feelings and learn how they overcame the feeling. It does sound like a very uncomforatble phobia.

Please start with your general family doctor, avoid medications and ask for a referal if he/she is unable to understand.

Yeah, you need to mention this to your regular MD and they can refer you to someone else. You sound like you have a social phobia or disorder. No biggie, but I would try to at least address this so it doesn't carry over into adulthood.
Little phobias like that can really effect you in the work world and kinda come off as paranoia. I wouldn't start taking any meds though. Most MDs are gonna try to do that.

You are very self-aware and intuitive, but truly "crazy" people aren't aware that they are. They have to be made aware that they are mentally ill. You might be paranoid, but not to the level of schitzophrenic. Learn to understand yourself, accept your weaknesses and know your strengths. There is only one you, so you have to live within your limitations and accept who you are.
