If you read these, you see they are about self defense, and also telling the reader that if the person you are defending yourself from stops, then you must stop too. It also says don't go overboard in protecting yourself, just do what you need to stay alive and protect yourself. This does not mean to go around killing innocent people. Self defense is not killing those who are not muslim. Self defense is just that. If physically attacked, fight back. If the attacker stops, you stop too. And why was verse 192 left out of the Answering Islam site? Is it because it made people really think about this? It says if the attacker stops, then good, all is forgiven.
[002:190] Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors.

[002:191] And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.
[002:192] But if they desist, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
[002:193] And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrong-doers.

Islam definitely does not say to kill non-Muslims. Mohammed (pbuh) had a Jewish wife, how could Islam possibly say to kill all non-Muslims?
Islam is a very reasonable, rational religion. It says to fight when attacked, and fight fiercely even against staggering odds, but if the attacker stops, we must stop. We are also commanded to never oppress an enemy, even if we have conquered him, he is to be treated humanely and respectfully. Muslims are required to treat others the way they would want to be treated.

Absolutely not.
what for? To spread Islam? No sir.
Can we spread Islam by imposing it on
others? No way.
It is miss understanding and wrong interpretation of teachings of Islam.
Islam has logical explanation for every of its teachings. Any one who believes this he should review his knowledge and understanding of Islam.
To follow and practice a religion, by someone, depends upon its acceptance. As far as the acceptance of a religious ideology is concerned it depends upon how much logical an ideology is to convince minds. Does it pass all the set standards of logic and wisdom to be accepted generally?
Do you think that Islamic teachings are not based on logic? If you say 'not' then study it carefuly to find the truth. If you say 'yes these are based on logic' then how do you find a reason to kill a nonmuslim?
Your duty is not to kill nonmuslims but to convey them the message of Islam in the most polite way. Then leave it upto them whether they accept it or not. Its is duty of everyone to find the truth.
Allah says to Prophet (pbuh) '' You are not sent as DAROGHA (a police man) but as a messenger''

The Koran is clearly open to interpretation.
I think you can only judge a religion meaningfully by what its follwers do. And what far too many of them do is commit terrible crimes to kill innocent people who do not agree with them.
Now using this information you can make a meaningful judgement.

You are forgeting the world isn't just Jews, Christians and Muslims! Your book makes no concession for anyone outside of those terms apart from death. Your holy text makes allowances for the Jews and Christians, because you share their prophets out side of that. Islam tolerates no one.

People will always interpret ancient texts however they like. No book, ancient or modern, is perfect.
As long as people believe that writing in ancient texts defines the way we should live our lives, they will always find ways to make those ancient texts justify whatever they want.

Well, I have heard it could be the Quran that is behind "The Cause!" That according to "radical Islamic ideology," "they" have to kill to get into heaven! But I do not think it is heaven "they" are going to! It has to be the "other place!" It appears that "they" have made their own rules in this "Holy War." If that's what it is. =<)

You're muddled in particulars. The bottom line is Islam and every religion for that matter don't value life in this universe/reality. The capitalist USA does value life for the real human- the individual. We are the wealthiest, most powerful nation that ever existed and we are hated by those who do not value life in this universe soaccordingto Muslims, we must be destroyed and, according to Christians, we have no moral right to defend ourselves.
