Can't they just somehow sheer it off? I've gone from shaggy to spiky before and I've sat in the chair for over an hour when they go around clipping each section of my hair ... there's gotta be a faster easier way.

well they can start by cutting it and maybe using clippers to take the rest down.

A fast hair cut can turn out to be a real mess. If you want a good spikey hair cut, you need a great hairdresser.

he/she should first blow dry your hair that should take some time then he should gell it if u dont want it hard then try loreal paris hair products 4 men with frizzy/curly hair
