My wife also suffers from General Anxiety disorders. She was taking prescription medication for years. She used to be a heavy pot smoker prior to us knowing each other, but since I was in the Navy for the first 7 years of our marriage, she was not able to smoke.
During that time she say numerous psychiatrists and psychologists and they helped a little here and there. She tried some therapists (which actually did the most help), and took so many different meds I can't even recall them all. She eventually was taking a pill to sleep, one to calm down, and one to get energy in the morning. She tried Zoloft, Trazadon, xanax, etc, and some worked for a while, but all eventually stopped (as if her body had gotten used to them.) I got out of the Navy and I asked her if she wanted to smoke. Reluctant at first, she went for it. I swear, that helped her more than any of the medications over all the years. It was harder to acquire, but was about the same price overall. We have a son as well, so she always waited until night when he was sleeping. She would go out to the garage, take a few hits off a bowl, and then come inside and chill, then go to bed.
I have always been against drug use, but I made an exception for this purpose. I feel that it is no different than taking the prescription drugs. If this is what works and is easier for you to acquire then go for it. If it gets to the point where it is interferring with you ability to be a good wife or mom, then you should stop.
As a matter of fact, my wife straight out told her most recent psychiatrist she smoke and he said that whatever works, go for it.
As for going to jail, no, you don't need to go to jail. Just make sure you never have enough to where the 50 may think you are distributing it (unless you live in Vegas where a mere seed or stem will land your butt in jail. )

In no way does smoking pot make you a bad mother, as long as it's not affecting your motherly duties, and if you ask me it's far better than anything a doctor is going to give you! No one should go to jail for smoking mj, and that includes mothers! You as a mother want what is best for your child more than anyone else does, so it really doesn't matter what anybody else thinks, it's not their place to judge you. As long as your child always comes first and you do the best you can i see no reason you should feel bad or guilty about smoking a little herb...

I suffer from anxiety myself, and have tried many of the meds
you mentioned...the downside to smoking pot is that one of the symptoms is tachycardia (increased heart rate), which doesn't really help with anxiety. Depending on where you live, you can get a 'medical marijuana card' for anxiety depression, I've known people that just made up stuff and got the card (which was certainly NOT the original intent of legalizing it, but, for some people it truly helps.
As for the answer about how you will 'become' a bad mom, well, they haven't done their research. I have worked with emotionally disturbed youth, and believe me, pot smoking was the least of my worries...now alcohol, that's another story. People who use marijuana tend NOT to get angry, get into physical fights, then want to drive at 100 mph. And it's not necessarily a 'gateway' drug like people believe. I've read tons of research (went thru grad school) and the worst effect of pot is the tar that builds up in your lungs...and for some "amotivational syndrome' when folkes pretty much stop functioning altogether. It doesn't sound like your want an escape, just a release from your anxiety. Don't beat yourself up over it.
Best of luck to you...

No I do not think you should be sent to jail. Also it does not make you a bad mother. You should open up and ask for a bit of help with the marijuana smoking because the chemicals from that can really interfere with your mind.Marijuana use is known to cause sleeping problems. Take care and dont feel that your not a good mum.Just ask for help if you feel you need a bit of support.Speak to a dr.

I don't think you are a bad mother/wife or should be sent to jail but smoking marijuana will actually increase your anxiety. Do yourself a favor and stop smoking, eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly.

I know where you are coming from, and under the circumstances I think you are doing fine. I suffer from severe joint pain and anxiety. Sometimes marijuana is the only thing that helps me keep it together.
The only side effect to worry about is tar entering your lungs, and this can be diminished up to 70% by smoking from a water pipe, or completely by eating it.
of course, if you're not careful, you might find yourself growing handcuffs.

no I don't think you should be sent to jail but your lungs may suffer and a physician probably has better and can monitor yur health at the same time . My Dr. once prescibed Benedril
for the same reason it's over the counter cheap also a good antihistamine and muscle relaxant . check your family doctor for details .for anxiety disorder you might be better off returning to the psychotropics . good luck one visit to the doc isn't that expensive if you shop around even without insurance.

No offense, but you are destined to be a bad mom if you keep smoking. I however don't think you should be sent to jail until you become a bad mom, but in every single criminal case I know of, all pot or weed smokers end up abusing their child, purposefully or accidentally passing on their habit (no matter how careful you are, this can happen very often), or doing some other thing that they would regret. I do not mean to alarm you, but I know of a Dad who smoked some weed and raped his 14 year old daughter.
You really should go to rehabillitation, and tell your husband that you smoke. It's a good thing that you don't smoke all the time, though. Don't EVER smoke any more than you are. Try to cut it down. Yes it is hard, and painful, but you should if you are concerned with your child and husband's welfare.

Do not smoke. Doesn't help in the long run. No, it doesn't make you bad mom or wife. You sufering, I know how it feels. Try some yoga classes, and breathing exercises. If getting worse, go back to meds.
