The only way to rest your eyes is to not use them...light, darkness, doesn't matter. Avoid computers, video games, heavy reading. Shorter periods of time while in the midst of heavy eye usage, such as computer jobs, long hours of PS2/Xbox and the like, and lots of reading small print (newspaper size) causes eye strain and fatigue. Taking frequent breaks helps rest your eyes and aids in preventing eye strain.

what a joke!.......whoever told u this must be nuts....resting ur eyes means only by good sleep. no other natural way is available.ok so sitting in darkness will not help but instead waste ur precious day which u can use fr work and study.

no. looking into the distance every fifteen minutes to relax your eyes internal accommodation will help. but sitting in darkness will make no benefit to you. some people it could even make your eyes worse should you suffer from closed angle glaucoma.
