if i want to be healthy, is it ok to take or is it worth taking vitamins even if i am eating most of the right foods which contain the same vitamins. also will i still get the same benefit from vitamins if i take every other day.
if i do it both the natural way and the vitamin way will i have a higher chance of getting too much vitamins and be at risk with poisoning etc.

Getting vitamins from the natural sources is the best. These can be assimilated better. If you think you food contains all the vitamins and minerals in the right proportion, then you need not take a supplement. You might have heard of ' hypervitaminosis'. This is a condition in which the body suffers from excess intake of vitamins. Excess intake of each vitamins has some bad effect in the body. Some of them may cause swelling in the body and make your bones fragile. You may feel tired as a result of excess intake of some of the vitamins.

If you are eating a healthy balanced and varied diet then there is absolutley no need to take vitamin supplements.. after all you should be getting those VITAl MINerals and nutrients from you food.

In certain cases (I think the elderley, or those with digestive problems) a supplement may be a requirement. But for some others they are a definate no no.. I think during pregnancy is one such case, and probably also young children)

There are risks associated with consuming to much of certain vitamins (I think offhand its the B series) but you would have to consume a vast amount over the RDA to have a problem (I think it can be as low as 3..5 times)

If you are concerned that your diet then I think taking a multi Vitamin is no bads thing.. just dont go over the top and consume vast quantities believing that more is better. Bear in mind that Vitamins are regarded as a food supplement, not a medical treatment, so the manufacturer isn't bound by the same guidelines as a medical or pharmaceutical product would be. ie they have fewer restrictions on what they can claim, they don't have to prove their assertions, they dont have to prove a therapeutic benefit.

You can choose to live “normally” – that is eat a moderately healthy diet and work long hours – and use supplements, juice fasts, detoxes, and exercise to atone for your sins. Or you can do what the majority of Americans seem wont to do and live on McDonald's, beer, and Twinkies, not exercise, not supplement, and rely on 15-25 prescription drugs a day to carry you through the last 20 years of your life.

You know, it's ridiculous, in this day and age of prepackaged food, depleted soil and hormonally altered meats to believe that you can get the vitamins and minerals that you need strictly from your diet. They simply aren't there anymore. So, yes, it's good to supplement your diet with a good high quality multi vitamin at the very least. Do not be fooled by garbage vitamins like One-A-Day or Centrum.

One that I have used for years is by Nature's Plus - Regeneration. It's a gel cap and easy to take. You'll feel a difference almost immediately.

It does not hurt having a regular multivitamin a day. Anything beyond that is "expensive urine" as per my doctor.

Most vitamins will be expelled by the body if you have too much of. But certain vitamins do build up like Vitamin A and E. Too much vitamin C can cause Gout and kidney problems.

I don't think you can take too many vitamins. You mean like a vitamin overdose.?? lol

But it's nothing wrong with take vitamins to supplement your diet. Although you are healthy, you may be missing some vitamins.

You should go to your GNC store. They will get you on the right path

Just take some now and again. If you take them too often, or increase the dosage you are at risk from liver cancer as your body won't be able to cope with absorbing the vitamins.

Milk is one of the most nutritionally complete foods available .Milk is very good for you but contains a lot of saturated fat, so choose semi milk instead.. all the benefits without the disadvantages. And you drink a lot which is good, just dont drink a lot more
