I was wondering b/c I was reading about Burbank and they were saying that its basically where everyting has gone to like Universal,NBC,Disney,ABC studios to do movies..and Hollywood is not what is used to be in a since...so if a actor lives there would they have a better chance getting roles like open calls, or agencys, or even talent searchers, maybe extra work???

Burbank is expensive, I predict that you will find yourself a nice little studio in "Valley Village". Just like Sarah Silverman. It's close to everything and somewhat affordable.
You'll need a car, most of your auditions with be in North Hollywood, Burbank, and Hollywood. You'll want to register with Central Casting for extra work in Burbank.

No...living in Burbank will not give you a better chance of getting roles. Yes Burbank is known as the "Media Capital" because all the big studios reside there, but Hollywood and Burbank are totally like night and day. Also Burbank has more suburbs than the media areas. Born and raised in Los Angeles and having friends that live in Burbank I definitely don't think living in Burbank will give you an advantage. Grant it there are actors that live there but I really don't think living there is what got them their jobs. BUT I think Burbank is a much nicer and cleaner area than Hollywood :]

Most people misunderstand what "Hollywood" is. In the broadest sense of the word, Burbank IS Hollywood. So is Universal City, Culver City, Studio City, Manhattan Beach, and every other place in Southern California where studios exit to churn out movies. Hollywood isn't just that small neighborhood in Los Angeles, it's a state of mind - a nickname for the movie-making business which, in reality, spreads out all over Southern California.

The major studios were never located in "Hollywood". During the silent film era there were some studios located in the area that were about the size of small house.
The "Hollywood" concept has been a PR concept to establish some kind of icon to represent the motion picture industry. There are studios off of Gower and Melrose and TV stations sprinkled through out LA.
But beautiful downtown Burbank just off of Buena Vista and the 134 does show itself to be an industry hub.
But frankly, this is activity in indutrial parts and non-discript buildings all over the area that edit, process and dub film.

Billed as the "Media Capital of the World", many media and entertainment companies are headquartered or have significant production facilities in Burbank, including NBC Universal, The Walt Disney Company, and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Much of Burbank's economy is based on the entertainment industry. While Hollywood is considered a symbol of the glamorous entertainment industry, much of the actual production takes place in Burbank. Many companies have their headquarters or facilities in Burbank, including ABC, Cartoon Network, DIC Entertainment, Dick Clark Productions, NBC, Nickelodeon, New Wave Entertainnment,Technicolor/Thomson, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., Warner Music Group.

Many ancillary companies from Arri cameras, to Cinelease, Entertainment Partners payroll, JL Fisher, and Matthews Studio Equipment also maintain a presence in Burbank.

Burbank is also conveniently located close to CBS Studio Center, DreamWorks, and Universal Studios in neighboring Studio City, Glendale, and Universal City, respectively. Capitol Records and Paramount are just south of Burbank in Hollywood proper.

That's kinda true. I live in Burbank, CA and many of my friends are actors/actresses. It's easier to get gigs if you live here. Many celebrities live here also.
