If you're just talking about having a "night cap" of sorts, I don't think there is really a problem with it. A nice brandy or glass of wine can help you relax and sleep better. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, since the time of day does not dictate whether a person is an alcoholic or not.
Enjoy your morning-cap ;) Of course, in moderation!

When I worked the night shift and got off at 7 or 8 AM, I often had a drink or so. I treated day as night and night as day. 7 AM was my 7PM, and I would sleep in the evening before work.

No. Your work schedule will dictate what you do. Jack in the Box restaurants started serving breakfast all day as they recognized the fact that not everyone is on the same schedule. Mornings are your evenings now and a lot of people have a drink after getting off work. Don't sweat it.

I work the night shift too. My coworkers and I have a couple drinks after work on Fridays. I don't see anything wrong with it. (we are all nurses that work at a hospital). We just take the kids to daycare and then meet up.
If you are running on extreme lack of sleep, which is pretty common with the hours we work, opt to have a couple at home.
Everything in moderation.

Why do you feel you need a drink? you ask the question out of what? guilt? what makes you think you need a drink at a certain time?
If I were you I'd start asking myself some questions like why am I drinking this much, alone and at these times. You may be starting a problem.

Not the most healthy life style. Especially if you're getting "Drunk". If you're having a beer or two to just relax after work, I reckon there's no harm in it. In retrospect, getting drunk in the morning is probably not the best idea.
