I was shy once, but you have to get over it. Shyness is a cute attribute to have but in the long run it gets you no where. You have to come out of your shell and just talk. I'm not saying be this aggressive chick who all in his face but be open and a little flirty with him, if anything its going to bring him out of his shyness and maybe form a real connection between the two of you. Again being shy is sweet and cute, but if he likes you and you like him, why waste the time with being mousy.

You could see a movie together. That will take the pressure off of talking while you both get to sit together and enjoy each other's company. And then after, well, walk and talk about the movie.

Just find common ground: Do you both like dogs, Are you taking the same classes, Do you both have siblings, you know, the easy stuff.

Find some subjects that you are both interested in. Study up on them. That should provide you some conversation during those uncomfortable quiet moments.
