I used to live in a military town in Canada. Our pilots, soldiers and navy were always doing joint training exercises with the Americans and the Americans always had their a**es handed to them. The reason was because the Americans were always being trained how to use technology where as the Canadians were always been trained how to use their brains. I guess that artificial intelligence and technology has not yet matched the capacity of the human mind, imagine that. The American military also tends to have many incidences of lacking ethics and morals (as opposed to Canada, New Zealand, Sweden - which is why Canadians are the number 1 peacekeepers). Also Americans don't tend to be able to handle high pressure situations like the Israelis or even the British. So all those people who put USA at number one... an F22 doesn't make the actual pilot any better, just gives him more tools. Same thing for Abrahms tanks, A10 warthogs, blackhawk helicopters, F117 stealth fighters, B1 bombers whatever... they are the most technologically advanced. So they have the best crutches... period. The best TRAINED armies are.

1) Israel because they have never stopped training in real life experiences.
2) British, they have always had a lot of military roles from peace keeping to Ireland and now in the Middle East
3) This one is tough, but probably the Canadians because of their constant and front and center role as peacekeepers.
4)?
5)?
6) Maybe the US would pop in down here

That is a tough question and being an American Soldier I am biased, but here are my top three choices.
1. The US Army, the oldest rule of war is there is no war training that can subsitute for the real thing. Right now we are at war in two nations. Further the NTC and JRTC produce some of the best simulated war games in the world for ground forces. Think Top Gun for tankers, and infantry grunts. The US armed forces have more money to train with than anybody and as a result can train how it is going to be for real closer than anyone. Coupled with the best weapons money can buy and it is a winning combo. Plus I am in it, like I said I am biased.
2. The UK has some outstanding military units. The British SAS is arguably the best military unit in the world. The british Paras are some of the best light infantry troops in the western world. The Gurkas are renowned for their warrior ethos. Plus there Challenger battle tank is one of the few in the world on par with the American Abrams.
3. Israels IDF is surrounded by enemies all around yet has managed to keep Israel from being overun since the end of WW2. The rescue mission the Israeli paratroopers/commandos pulled off at Entabbe is a classic example of what a well trained military can pull off. I will go further some of the tank battles the Israeli's have fought have been among the greatest in history second only to Kursk. In all of those the Israeli tankers were outmanned and outgunned yet found a way to hold on.

Patrick B assumed through fact the question is in English the asker is American. The British Forces have the superb training however the yankee defence funds is purely approximately equivalent to the the remainder of the international's spending blended. guy for guy stripped of equipment i might cost the British Forces as greater suitable through way the provider is performed. the US Serviceman has a tendency to do the minimum 4 years then pass away to pass to varsity. The British Soldier is purely stepping into his interest after 4 years and maintains to be plenty longer, meaning the adventure in a unit is retained and a similar classes are actually not being re-found out i've got labored alongside an excellent sort of diverse Armies, from US Marines and military to French foreign places Legion and the remark with regard to the German troops above does not make experience to me. sure they have stable equipment yet once you're actually not keen to pass outdoors and perform it contained in the rain what's the factor??

Best trained army -- 1) Britain 2) US 3) Pakistan

Most effective army - Israel - they have more threats to their survival and therefore more motivation. They operate like the US Coast Guard. Their stalemate with Hezbollah was caused by inept politicians who put political constraints on the Army.

Antarctica (100% of 0 is still 0).
The A-Team (they weren't Americans because they were wanted by the Law, and felons have their rights revoked).
Santa Claus (The Red Horde from up North. Still a juggernaut, liberating and redistributing toys to all the worlds masses).

Read Defense Weekly and come up with your own list.

The best trained Army would be that army capable of bringing the best guarantee of peace to the world without having to keep counting the death toll of its own and looking for replacements. Best army should equal quality army.
