Hey! I was home schooled from Pre-K through High school. There were times when I wanted to go to public school, but in the end I knew that I was learning more by being schooled at home. Being home schooled also allowed me to have a part-time job, and able to keep up with school work.

Many ignorant people say "homeschooled kids don't know how to socialize." This is just not true. I was able to interact more confidently with adults than any other child my age. I was also better at articulating my thoughts. Nobody has ever been able to guess that I was homeschooled--so I must not be as backward as people say home schoolers are.

Many colleges are looking for homeschooled applicants because these students tend to be more hardworking and better at writing, spelling, and people skills.

You are very lucky to have parents who put in the time and effort to homeschool you. Stick with it. In a few years you will be happy you did.

As for socializing.... I'm sure you do enough as it is. But look into any type of "once a week classes"... such as bowling leagues, painting groups, swimming class. Or get a part-time job. All of those will offer you new ways to meet new people, if that is what you are wanting to do.

Good luck!

There are good points for both, really. Home schooling gives you more peace and quiet, with a one-on-one setting, that may result in better grades. However, having gone to a public high school, I can say there are more activities to get involved in (sports, choir, clubs, etc) that you can't do at home; you have a chance to meet new people--possibly of a different ethnic group or culture--and make new friendships that could last a lifetime; and your input in classes can make people think differently about things. I am wondering why you chose homeschooling for those few years. Your choice?? Your parents' choice?? Certain circumstances where you could not go out in public, like with an illness?? I'd say give it a try. If it's not to your liking, you can always go back to homeschooling.

It's hard to say without knowing you and your parents, your personality, your interests, etc.

My 15 year old left public school in the 2nd grade and never went back. He enjoys being homeschooled, and his social life does not suffer. He is with his friends everyday, anywhere from 2 to 6 hours a day. He does martial arts rather than team sports. He's not very interested in the dances and such, and is content that he has plenty of socialization without having to sit in a stuffy classroom all day. And, from talking to his public schooled friends, he is glad to miss out on all the high school drama lol. But that is *his* personality. A decision like this depends on the individual.

Good luck :)

You have to decide based on several factors:
1) Where will I get the best education? (statistically that would be homeschool, but individual situations vary greatly)
2) What be the healthiest for me socially? (Opinions differ on this, some saying public school because you are around people your own age, and some saying homeschool because you avoid negative influences such as alcohol and drugs.)
3) Since my parents are the ones who legally make the choice, what do they say?

Now, why are you considering going back? If its fear of not getting into college you should know that colleges WILL take you if you are homeschooled. If you have other reasons, then just talk it over with your parents and consider carefully. There is no one right answer for everyone.

It's such a personal decision for you and your parents. My daughter was homeschooled from 3rd grade and had no desire to ever go back to public schools... she did decide to start taking college classes at 15, but never wanted to go to a regular high school and she's doing great. If she did want to go to a regular high school, I would have let her. Some homeschooled kids do feel they want to give it a try and some parents are open to it. I don't think anyone will be able to really tell you what would be best for you, you should discuss it with your parents and look into your options-- weigh the pros and cons.

I think you should finish at least 1-2 years of highschooled Homeschool before making up your mind.
There is alot of flexiblilty in homeschooling. And you would have to be in school alot more than you are used to. I would say stay in the comforts of your home and get the job done.
YOU CAN DO IT!

If you want to socialize, join a group. Many of them offer extracurriculars, dances, field trips, etc. I did two years of high school each (I only home schooled for the last two years of high school). I much preferred home schooling.
But this isn't me; this is you. Did you prefer public school or home schooling? Talk with your parents about it. They might be better able to help you make a decision.

This decision is really up to you. Do you want to?
If so then do so.
If you would like more friends and are a social person then school would be perfect for you.
If you prefer to stay at home and are not that good at making friends and socializing then home-schooling is perfect for you. (you can also get more work done.)

So, why do you think you should go back to public school? The reasons for home schooling in high school are the same as the reasons to home school in elementary unless your situation has changed.
I do think that students should have a voice in their education.

I am also going to be a freshmen. I have been homeschooled my whole life...I really want to go to highschool but my parents won't let me. It sucks. So if you want to have a social life you should probably go. Anyways if you have any questions E-mail me blackeyedlizzard@hotmail.com.
