When i started running about a mile a day i experienced a light pain right in my shin area..It sort of stung...I was reading about shin splints and i was wondering could that be it?I'm gonna be running cross country next year so ya?

Shin splints are caused by muscle imbalance. Calf strong, shin weak. The way to correct this is to strengthen the muscles at the front of the legs. Lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Try to work up to 3 or 4 sets of 5 – 10 reps each. Good Luck

yeah tose are indeed shin splints


what you should do is spell the alphabet with your foot, so you can roll out your ankles and do calf raises.

those two alone help me get rid of my shin splints

If you don't have the right type of footwear that could be it. Also you have to stretch and do not over excercise. If it gets worse talk to a personal trainer.

it's probably cause ur not used to running a mile a day
