Everyone is right-do not use butter or vaseline as it traps the heat and actually makes it worse. Use an ice pack wrapped in at towel and that will help with pain and draw the heat out. The best thing I've ever used on a minor burn is Emu Oil. You can buy at most health food stores. It stops the pain and speeds the healing. Even though it's an oil, it's not like any oil we use. It's recommended for burns, and it's also an awesome night deep moisturizer for your face. It's wonderful to have on hand. Hope that helps!

Any type of burn is always best treated with plenty of cold water or if not available a cold pack.
Putting butter on a burn is an old wives tale.
There is no benefit in putting oil/grease on hot skin, all you are doing is just trapping the heat in the skin causing it to fry!

Butter or vaseline just seals in the heat.

Use cool water, let it run over the burn until it is completely cool. This may take some time, but this is the best course.

Don't use ice, that is too cold, you don't want to further damage the area.

The next day, you can use some antibiotic ointment to aide healing.
