My friend will be attending her bf's father's birthday dinner this weekend and would like to know what sort of gift to get for his dad? Hope to get few useful answers to help her out in this.

Ask the bf what his dad would like. He would know.

It would help if she knew a little about his interests, for example is he a golfer, a bowler,a sports enthusiast-his favourite team? Just a card and a small gift would be appropriate.Perhaps something to go along with dinner like a bottle of wine,or baby champagne for his celebration,(that,s if he does drink alcohol) if not a non alcoholic wine or drink, wrapped in a fancy bag or wrap would be nice.

A simple gift card inside a "Happy Birthday" card. This world's all about money, y'know? What better excuse to give it to someone than on the day they celebrate the eve of their birth?

Ahh, sorry. But if she doesn't really know the guy, she shouldn't go all out on him, even if she does want to make a good impression.

If you know what his favorite place to shop is, get him a gift card placed in a birthday card. Then he can buy what he wants.

Since they are still dating and not married, it is not necessary for her to get him any expensive gifts. She should co-sign a card with her bf.

have her ask her bf what his dads hobbies are, and buy accordingly. Gift cards are always nice, even if it is to a nice restaurant

for my future father in law, I got him a really nice little wooden box that locks, and it has his initials carved into it. I think i got it at walmart for like...20 dollars or something. But he really appreciated it because he could put stuff like his pipe and tobacco or other things like that inside it and lock it.
