Was in the Navy for 20 years, and can say that's a pretty cruel thing to say about us. I have nothing but respect for those that serve their country regardless of what branch they served in. While serving, had the opportunity to interact with all branches of the service, and have nothing but good things to say about them. As far as choosing a branch of service, just do some research and find out which one you think is best for you.

This should help with NCIS it's taken directly from their website
"NCIS is the primary law enforcement and counterintelligence arm of the United States Department of the Navy. It works closely with other local, state, federal, and foreign agencies to counter and investigate the most serious crimes: terrorism, espionage, computer intrusion, homicide, rape, child abuse, arson, procurement fraud, and more."

NCIS is a tv show right?? Thats exactly what it is, a fictional tv show, don't think that it actually depicts the navy life in any way. Just like the show army wives does't portrey what its really like to be an army wife. I'm sure the general was right, I can only imagine being a woman stuck on a boat with a guy to girl ratio of 10:1. I don't know if the marines would be any better. You're best bet is to sit down and talk with some women who actually served in the navy and get their opinions on it.

NCIS is civilian, has squat to do with Active Duty Navy. and for pete's sake, don't judge any branch of the military on a friggin tv show. 98% of it is creative license anyway and has zero relevence in the real military. Nor should you let one person influence your choice to serve in whatever branch you want
do your own research, on a real site such as navy.com or military.com, and make an informed decision about which branch is the best fit for you.
