I thought there for a while it was African American, but I'm not sure that's what it is any more... maybe people of colour... or maybe people of african descent? I have no clue... I'll be honest though, I'm not racist, but I call myself white, I don't understand why they can't call themselves black.

Mexicans = Spics
Arabians = Sand N1gger5
Blacks = N1gger5
Irish = Mic's
Italians = Whops
Chinese = Chinks
Vietnamese = Gooks
U.K. = Brits

Amazing isn't it the amount of offensive slurs people have made.... I'm sure I forgot plenty too.

However, as far as the NAACP is concerned, they call themselves National Association for the Advancement of "COLORED PEOPLE".

So by the definition, "Colored People".

But that even changed.

Now it's African Americans.

I guess I'm an Irish American. Or a Mic American.
I married a whop, she's sitting right here reading this and I'm getting punched in the arm.

True political correctness will be when we quit addressing race at all.

It depends on the day of the week, the neighborhood you are in and the company you keep. Right now Black is pretty safe (while they work to kill off negative aspersions on black, like Black Hole referring to a project sucking in resources so the astronomical event is now called roughly "super dense gravity anomaly"
We, in Dallas, a while back had a protest at an oriental merchant in Wynnewood Village who referred to "colored people" and the Black community was protesting, including representatives of the NAACP, which of course includes the CP term in its name. Isn't political correctness fun!

No ♥RADGIRL♥, by saying they are African American you assume 2 things, that they are from Africa, and that they live in America. ***** is old fashioned. ****** is just plain wrong. What is wrong with calling people of dark color black? I'm white, so your black. End of story. Calling a white guy white isn't demeaning, while ppl debate on whenether to call a black guy black.

There's nothing wrong in saying someone is black, just like we say someone is white or yellow. The prejudice is in our minds, not in the colors.

I'm against this so-called politically correct "Afro-American" term, because we don't say a white is an "Euro-American", right? From this we see this too is a prejudicial expression.

I personally feel people of "non" color should NOT answer this question from the answers given. People are people. Do people call you german american?! Come on! We should be referred to as Americans, just like "caucasians"

What are you trying to reference them for?

Depends where they are from i.e african american, indian, south african etc etc.

I think the world has become to PC, and normal, well intended people are so worried about saying the wrong thing.

If it sounds offensive, then it probably is!

People of color? Just what color are you referring to? If you mean black folks then just say Black. It won't usually offend and it's just one syllable.

Black. I think this whole African American thing is silly. I think then that you should call white people European Americans.
