My friend, not to worry. By the time you get done, you WILL be able to do much, much more than that. I guarantee it!
I was in the same boat as you when I joined the Army, and they whipped me into shape. The Corps will definitely build you up.

Marines are graded on PFT which is pull-up, crunches, and a 3 mile run. The maximum score is 300 points. Every pull-up is worth 5 points. Therefore, 20 pull-ups equal 100 points(you can't get more than 100). Each sit-up is worth 1 point, so you have to do 100 in 2 minutes. And you have to run 3 miles in 18:00 minutes to get 100. After that you lose 1 point every 10 seconds(6 points a minutes) A score of 250 or above(easier than it sounds) puts you at First Class PFT. Don't just meet the bare minimum, try to achieve a perfect PFT, all you need is motivation(provided by the DI) and determination(that must be self-supplied)

Some of you need a refresher.
You can do pull ups or chin ups. you chin has to clear the bar. and you have to come all the way down. there's no kicking and a score of 225 will net you a 1st class PFT.
but, for bootcamp, to get in, you have to do a minimun of 3 pullups/chinups. and the run is only 1.5 miles. they work you up to the 3 mile run.

You can do either - hands facing you or away. You can even kick if that helps. The minimum number is three. But, if you do the minimum pull ups, sit ups and three mile run you won't pass. You also have to beat a minimum score. Don't worry by the end of boot camp you'll pass. Semper Fi !!!!!

you can do what ever you feel like doing, you can even do sit ups on the bar if you want. Of course you have to do pull ups, its only 6. I suggest if you want to be a marine you start training. If you guys get the rep. of being the most elite force and most bad a** you damn well better prove it. One pull definatly won't cut it, not even for the air force.

Work harder at it... and on an off point always capitalize Marine.
You'll learn that soon enough but might as well get used to it.
Increase your arm strength. You don't want to be sent to the platoon where they make you do this constantly.
Keep going. you'll get there.

You can have your hands facing toward you or away from you. It's your choice.
