Of course there are :)
There are people from all beliefs who will mock others with different beliefs. I agree with you, though; it's all very unnecessary. The only time I ever have a problem with religion is when it's being forced on me or people are trying to convert me. Respect is a two-way street.
If you want to believe in a god, then more power to you. Religion, if used in the right way, can be a really good thing. If it helps you to find a sense of inner peace, then awesome. Good for you, I'm happy for you.
Personally, I'm not bothered by the fact that people have different beliefs than I do. Actually, I like learning what they believe and why, because I like people. One of my closest friends is a very devout Christian, and she and I will go sit in a cafe, drink coffee, and talk about religion for hours at a time. We don't judge each other at all, even though we may not agree on everything. We've learned from each other through respectful discussions.
If you ever do want to discuss your beliefs with an atheist who won't judge you, feel free to contact me. I enjoy intelligent conversation, and I swear that I won't mock you or try to change your beliefs :)

I'd like to know specifically what you mean by "mock my belief" because if you hear people disagree with your belief or disagree with symbols of your belief being on or in public or federal buildings, is that mocking your belief or expressing a different belief?
Atheists (there aren't a whole lot of them but they believe there is no god, no higher power), agnostics (who believe in some higher power but not necessarily a god), other religions and even other Christian denominations may not agree with your belief. But is that mocking your belief?
Most atheists I have spoken with personally like to debate the existence of god question. Is that what you consider mocking your belief?
If any of these apply then you're not very accepting of others and a little thin skinned to boot.
We can all coexist in a country which separates church and state, leaving us all to believe what we wish without fear of reprisal. Unfortunately, most of the religious mocking I've experienced has come from fundamentalist Christians who do not accept any belief can exist except theirs.
Your belief stops at your door and in your church and it does not extend to how things are run if you are truly a loving Christian who understands this world is made up of a lot of people who do not believe as you do. This is not a theocracy.

Because they don't agree with you.
I want to trust that it's not that they're atheists, it's just that they are ignorant and don't know how to express themselves without mocking and ridiculing others. You have to understand that they have a need to be right and "different" and independent.
Independently from your own beliefs, I trust you respect others, that just means that you're a decent educated person. Religious beliefs throughout the ages have been a source of passionate responses, battles, wars. I guess some people become so impassioned they can't speak well, or coherently.
I want to believe there ARE atheists out there that respect the belief in God, or at least another person's right to believe or not believe. I know that if they expect to be respected they need to develop some tolerance themselves.

The same reason why some Christians often mock atheists' lack of belief in God.
You've probably come into contact with more atheists than you think. Most don't shout out to the world that they don't believe in God; these are the rude ones. Most keep their personal views to themselves and close friends.

Not really, they have no respect for themselves so it is hard to think they would respect Believers. Often they "mock" because they have no faith and cannot understand why Believers can smile when things seems to be falling apart. They cannot understand that inner peace the G-d gives you simply for the asking. They take a materialistic view that "nothing is free" or "there is no such thing as a free lunch." So, when they hear that G-d's peace and grace is FREE and all you need to do is ask .. . . well . . . that runs against what their materialistic brains can comprehend. Simply live your life and walk in the WAY and your actions and good works will serve as an example, even to your enemies. May the Creator who made us all, atheists included, shine His countenance upon all.

I wonder how you've presented your belief in God. If you are looking for a discussion, you'd better be prepared with good reasons. If you are trying to convince atheists, then they're likely to put up a good argument. If on the other hand, it's brought up off hand and in a non-challenging way, I'm not sure why atheists would go to the trouble to confront you. Most of us have better things to do.

They're probably just reacting to being mocked themselves by a religious person in the past. It seems like a lot of religious people push their beliefs on Atheists. Such as the ones who protest and yell things at gay pride parades. Me, I'm an Atheist, and I'm happy for you that you believe. I have religious friends and I respect their beliefs if they respect mine. If your religion makes your life better and fuller, I'm happy it's in your life.

Yes, there are atheists who respect the beliefs of others. The ones you're talking about probably believe in the lack of a God as much as you believe in the existence of one. They are confident in their belief, so to believe otherwise doesn't make sense to them.
Also, they want to feel smart. Tearing others down is a tool to boost their own self esteem.
I'm an agnostic. I've come to my conclusions and you've come to yours.

There are many Atheists who respect others. The ones who mock usually do it because they are fed up with fundamentalists ramming religion down their throats and interfering with laws based on their religious beliefs.

yes, there are atheists that respect others' beliefs. but when you get repeatedly attacked for your own beliefs, you may start to get a little snippy with other people, you know? anyone would respond the same way.
yes, there are some hostile atheists, just as there are hostile people in many religions. but you can't generalize, even though i know this has been your experience.
hopefully you will come across more open-minded people in the future.
