I'm afraid for my son to get his one-year vaccinations. I know they said that they took the preservative out of vaccines that were supposedly causing autism back in 1999, but there are videos on youtube that show children after one year turn into totally different people that were dx with autism. When I asked one particular lady about what may have caused it (I knew about the vaccines but didn't mention it) she said what I had feared... that she believed that her son's autism was caused by his vaccination. Has anyone else experienced this? She said that right after his first birthday, there was a steep declination of speech and wanting to be held.

The best thing for you to do is to research it all, discuss it with your child's doctor and make the best decision for your child. I know of people who have done modified vacinations or not at all. I personally have had all my kids vacinated with all of them on schedule but like you, I've heard of the problems suspected by the vac. It's one of those decisions only you can make for your child.

Research, research, research.

Also, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Childhood Vaccinations" By Stephanie Cave is a good book.

I do not vaccinate my children. Honestly, Autism is the very last thing on my mind when it comes to reasons why I do not. Vaccines have many questionable ingredients, such as Aluminum, formaldehyde, and phenols(to name a very few). Also, vaccines are not tested for carcinogenic or mutagenic properties, or the effects on fertility. I also researched many of the diseases and, frankly, I fear the vaccines much more than I fear the small chance of my child having complications from these diseases. Example, Polio is 90% asymptomatic. Someone with a healthy immune system will only have flu-like symptoms. But because of the vaccines, the diseases are hyped up to be more dangerous than they really are. I feel that a healthy, untampered with immune system is the best thing for my children!

You know, doctors, schools, and other people will tell you that vaccinations are mandatory but they are not. You should do what you feel is right. Don't let ANYONE try to bully you into doing something you don't want to do. Both of my kids have had all theirs they are 12 yrs and 7 yrs and thankfully had no problems, but in the end, it is all about what you feel is right. I have an uncle who doesn't believe in doctors. They have 7 kids who are grown now, but the kids were born at home, home schooled and never had their vaccinations and they too are fine. 2 of them have been vaccinated because they are nurses now. It's ultimately your decision. Good luck either way!

I believe every childneeds to be vaccinated, but I believe the government's schedule is too aggressive. I do NOT believe the theory that vaccinations cause autism, but they are stressful to young bodies. Give your child his shots, just maybe not yet.

Is your child around a lot of unvaccinated children? Kids of illegal immegrants - Amish - those who don't vaccinate for health fears? If so, then don't wait to long to vaccinate him. If not, then it's probably safe to wait till age 2.

Before one year there are a few shots the child should have already had. Any reactions too them? I had 4 kids, 2 step children and now 2 foster children. All have had all immunizations as recommended by age and never had any problems with any.

well the biggest problem with that arguement is that thats when kids who were going to get autism anyway, start showing symptoms of it - after a year old. . so theres no way to PROVE that the vaccination caused it. i really dont care to get into the vax debate.. but i really do beleive in them, and i wouldnt not want to imagine living in a world where everyone stopped using them.

I'm in the exact same spot. I know logically it should be okay but I'm having major anxiety. I mentioned to my doctor that I was feeling very nervous and he suggested that we remain flexible with the shots and not give them all at once but try to stay close to the schedule. I'm still worried and have to schedule this appt next week but ????
