Can anyone tell me what to expect. I have to take relaxation med. because I am clostrophobic. When I get the results, I have to decide lumpectomy or masectomy but I am fibrocystic so how do I know this won't continue if I don't get a full masectomy. I am in shock and very numb ever since I was told this news. It doesn't run in my family. Any information would be helpful to me. I am very scared and this is all I think about everyday. I have had a chest xray already, and bloodwork, and now the MRI and my dr. is mentioning a lymph node check possibly. If anyone has had that done, can you please tell me what to expect. I would appreciate anything, but right now, bad news I cannot handle. thankyou.

I had a stage 2 lump. The MRI is no big deal-don't worry about it. Just close your eyes and take a nap.

Statistics today show that a lumpectomy with radiation has the same results as a mastectomy. That is if they take the lump out and there is no cancer around the margins of what they cut.

In my case, there was still cancer on the edges, so they did surgery again. Still cancer on the new edges. So I have it in multiple places in my breast I am waiting for a mastectomy now because it was in more than one place.

They will probably want to give you chemo. Ask for the percentage of decrease in risk before you decide.

Hang in there-the overwhelming odds are that you will survive.

The MRI shows everything and is a great thing to have! My sister-inlaw had one done after she found out she had breast cancer and they also checked the areas where it could matastize also. It the best! My sister-inlaw also had the lymph nodes done and she ended up keeping her breast because it wasn't in the breast as bad as it was in her nodes so they removed all of her nodes and then the had a genetic do a special test to see if there was a possiblity that it could go to her female organs due to the type of cancer she has, it is hormonal. They are waiting for the results on that right nos and she has decided to have a hystercotomy if the find that one gene that carries the cancer. They have 2 children and are lucky but your life is more important. God Bless and I hope all goes well for you ! Cancer is a very bad thing it never seems to follow any pattern but we have great research that has been done to help hopefully!

I know this isn't the answer you are looking for but my mom had all that and she went ahead and had the whole breast took off. They offer a surgery that can rebuild one but she didn't do that she just buys the bras with the built in breast. She had the surgery about 9 yrs ago and she hasn't had a sign of it since thank the lord. I always buy things that have the breast cancer awareness logo on them so maybe one day they will be able to have better cures. It is also best to talk to people who have had this done it will help build your confidence.

Society in general (medical profession, pharmaceutical industry...) makes you believe that cancer is a very scary disease. In reality it isn't, once you have the knowledge and understand what can be done to help battle this disease.

I just finished gathering scientific information that I strongly feel will help put your mind at ease. I have it all together in a report I call, Cancer-A Special Report-The Hidden Science.

If you would like to receive it send an e-mail with your request to healthcoach9@optonline.net

I wish you all the best,
