What do you think of the new Windows Vista??

Should I switch over to it from XP?

That's a good question, and one you should consider for a while before moving ahead. I just recently loaded Windows Vista on my laptop, since I still have a desktop with Windows XP on it. Personally I think the new Windows Vista has a great new look to it. I find it fast / responsive, but then again my laptop has 2 Gigabytes of RAM and a dual core CPU in it. The minimum recommended amount of memory for Windows Vista is 1 Gigabyte. There are, however, some bugs that need to be worked out. Nothing major and I'm sure they'll all be solved when Microsoft releases Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista later this year.

I suppose that whether you upgrade boils down to what you have an what you need. If you have a computer with at least 1 Gigabyte of memory (preferably more) and a decent amount of hard drive space, AND you're looking for something new and fun, go right ahead and upgrade. Also be sure to check your existing software for Vista compatibility. On the other hand if all you do is read email, surf the web, pay bills, etc..., you probably don't need to spend the money to upgrade right now. You can find more information on Vista at the link I provided.

Vista on a NEW machine is probably OK, but make sure there are Vista drivers for your Printer, Scanner, Camera, etc. FIRST. These are what cause most migration problems. Not all applications work in Vista either.

Upgrading to Vista on an older PC is not a good idea YET, use the free Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor (Google for it) to test your PC's compatibility.

Then, wait until all the manufacturer's have Vista drivers in place. Until then stick with XP.

It's okay. I have both Vista and XP, and I don't really have problems with Vista. It works a little differently and obviously looks different, but in the end, it basically accomplishes the same things that XP does. It's just that you'd have to upgrade RAM if you want Vista. People gripe about Vista a lot, but that's how people are with anything that's relatively new. It's really not as bad as the rumors say; I've had no troubles with using Vista. (Plus, it's pretty. ^-^)

Keep your XP machine until you need to buy a new computer. By then, all the bugs will be worked out of Vista.
And contrary to popular belief, there aren't any "extra processes" with Vista. Vista, when it is idle, fills up RAM with programs that you may access. So when you click on, say, Firefox, it will load almost immediately because it has been sitting in RAM. Then, when you actually need to use the RAM, it will clear out all the unloaded programs so it doesn't slow you down.

To keep it short, too much glitter and too many prompts to always confirm. I'd stay with XP, it's faster than Vista anyway, uses way less processes and therefore less RAM.

It depends on your knowledge of computers and ability to work around things to understand them. However, it seems as though they've made it more user-friendly. It's a lot different than XP, but it's more hip and vivid. I like it.
