i think that is a lot of crap....and about the healing, well, i m not too sure of that either, though if the person believes they are being healed their mind may be doing some of the work. i think the pentecostal movement, or whatever the name, was created by the catholic church for blue collar people so they wouldnt be bored and leave the church...i saw that stated somewhere, but might be good to look into that.

I just love it when "pastors" and other believers say: i dont know where you are getting your information. hahaha.Information as to the location of hell, how many btu's of hellish fire are lighting up the furnace, etc.... what i say, is if its so hot, why dont they leave the doors open in winter that way we get some of the warmth , might help stop the global warming if we dont use our electricity....dont know where u get your information..... i dont know either ....the bible is such a funny book, i t can be turned either side without any problems. maybe that s the gibberish they are talking about

I'm not sure where you are getting your information. The growth and revival of the African church has been tremendous and that church has shown great spiritual gifts including healing. However there are many persons in the America's that have many spiritual gifts including healing.

The gift of tongues is real. There are two versions - that of Pentecost and the one Paul speaks of in the scriptures and Laurissa mentioned that her parents have. You are correct that Paul said it was the least desirable gift. However, Paul also indicated that he spoke in tongues more than anyone.

Pastor John

Addendum: Rick O the Catholic Church had nothing to do with the Pentecost movement. It actually comes from Methodist roots though it has become a great church on its own. The Roman Catholics had a Pentecostal revival several years ago, but it was long after the formation of Pentecostalism.

Also there is confusion on the two gifts. Glossolalia is the gift of Pentecost. It is the gift of speaking in your own language and having everyone else hear you in their language. A phenomenal gift.

Speaking in tongues has most often been referred to as the language of angels. It is speaking in the divine language and is mostly used in prayer. Some people in church will prayerfully speak in tongues, but Paul cautioned that they should not without an interpreter to share the message.

I have seen videos of voodoo sacrifice where they speak in tounges too. They are "taking in the spirit of the provider." And most people say thats savage. When was the last time you had a ceremony for the animal you ate?

It is eerily similar though.

Buts its definetly not just christians that do it. Look up glossolalia. Its been around since ancient greek times, possibly earlier.

I'm Christian and I don't speak in tongues at all. It is a lesser gift which I do not have. Christians speak in many languages which they learn just like any other student of language. Tongues is mentioned in the Bible but that does not mean "Christians speak only in tongues" as you said. Did you mean "only Christians speak in tongues?"

Well, when christians can pray in native languages as well. Nothing is stopping them. However, it is believed that satan is fluent in every language spoken by man. The idea behind speaking in tongues is to be able to pray to God without the devil being able to understand you. If the devil cannot understand the prayer, he is less likely to be able to try to hinder its being answered.

Why is it the christians with the healing power tend to be from non-western countries? I honestly don't know.

Speaking in tongues jibberish to the world? of course its jibberish to the world! However, according to the new testament, it is also a sign to them from God.

I'm a Christian of the Catholic variety. The only "tongues" I can speak in are English and Spanish. And a little Japanese.

Referring to the gift of tongues as gibberish just proves that you lack the spirituality to truly discuss theology. Only Christians speak in tongues because tongues can only be present with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. A non-Christian cant receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Yes it's easy to fake...because most people fake it.

But when you're truely speaking in tounges it's not suppossed to be gibberish. But the Holy Spirit making you speak a language that the person has never studied, or knew, but can automatically speak in it.

Like a frenchwoman speaking Chinese, or vice versa.

You're speaking of only a few types of christianity. Much like different schools of science, and economics, and...
Nothing is truly objective in this world.
