Ok, well I got a perm about a year ago, I'm getting bored of it and I want my straight hair back. My stylist said I could get the rest of my perm taken out, and I want straight hair again but I don't know if my hair will be exactly how it was before my perm. Does the perm change your hair permanently even if you get it taken out? Thanxx in advance!!!

no...as ur hair grows out ur natural hair texture comes back (this is why ppl have to get theirs redone).now as i see it u have 3 choices. 1.) wait for it to grow out...i mean u can always just blow dry it straight after you wash it. 2.) cut all the perm out...hey u never know u might fall in love with the short hair...and if not then hair grows back and i know some places that sell some good extensions. 3.) get a relaxer...it should balance out the curl with straight (cuz relaxers straighten while perms curl).....now im not sure if this i''' work bc ive only ever worked with relaxers

An entire year is an awfully long time for a perm to last. A perm would not change your hair for good, but sometimes, our bodies change (especially hormonally) and change the texture of our hair. I used to always get perms because my hair was straight. But it always grew out in about 6 weeks, and I'd need to re-perm. Then I had a perm that lasted a really long time-the entire length of my nine month pregnancy! I kept waiting for it to grow out, because I was getting cuts, but the perm was still there, or so it seemed. Apparently my hormones changed my hair's chemistry while I was pregnant & I have naturally curly hair to this day! My hairdresser said that is rare, but it does happen sometimes!!

the hair that was permed is changed..the hair that is growing and has grown since is not changed...you can straighten the hair that was permed by combing a perming solution thru it till it gets to the desired straightness...most usually the changes associated with permed hair is dryness..but if you use good styling products you can limit that.

if you got it a year ago then you should be able to just cut the rest of the perm off
your hair will grow in just as straight as it was before the perm
but it might take a little while before you get the rest of it grown out and cut off

I'm not quite sure about that. better do some more research. I am a hairdresser too, but i don't believe that you can put a hair straighten (chemical) over permed hair(chemically treated). you hair could fall out. any chemical service perm, highlights, color does permanently change your hair until the hair is cut off. I'd say buy a Chi flat iron.....Let me know if do get it done. I am interested to know.

your hair my not go back exactly as it use to be but i think it would be best to get the perm out and straighten it and let your hair grow out

perm is short for permanent. you will grow out of it. and you can get it taken out, and it wont come back, unless you want it to. just like chemically straightening it.

It will grow out straight again. It's not like it changed your genetics.

Gosh ... I was going to give you a really great answer, but I don't work at a salon, nor have I experienced this.

I guess you don't want to know what I know.
