Hasidic Judaism has a thing about the nifty sideburns, not necessarily all hair.

Some followers of Islam in Iran believe that part of a man's "manliness" is to have a strong body odor and so they don't shave their armpits or use deodorant.

"Before the fall of the Shah of Iran, I was a military instructor at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver (since closed). The Iranian students (officers) believed that body odor was an indication of manliness. Wowee! There were tales of instructors having to crack open windows in the dead of Colorado winter to prevent passing out. When I was in the BX or commissary, I could literally tell if there was an Iranian officer in the next aisle. Then the Shah died and they all went away.

I believe there is an injunction against shaving the hair of the head in traditional Judaism. This seems to apply to shaving other areas, as documented in this somewhat tongue-in-cheek page: http://www.bergenstreet.com/lufrano2.html

I by no skill bleached or shaved my arm hair. yet I actual have relatively advantageous arm hair that isn't very substantive. in the adventure that your palms are relatively furry then wax rather. yet once you sense mushy the type you have it then go away it on my own. Who cares what different individuals say. and particular it is common to maintain your arm hair. :)

If I were to guess, I would say Islam. Their men are practically ape-like, and their women are all covered up...which causes one to wonder what's hidden under there.
