I know what you mean. I don't think you're really racist though; racist people are just blindly opposed to members of a certain race, simply because they are of that particular ethnic group. Your aversion to people who give their race a bad name is natural. Just try to separate the people who do the bad things you mention from the rest of their race. There are people of every race who do those things- white, black, Hispanic, Eskimo, it doesn't matter. People are people; some are the kind you'd want as your friends and some are not. And we all know music, culture, TV, etc support a lot of things they shouldn't. Unfortunately, that is the way of the world. Just make your own judgments on what is right and wrong, without letting yourself be influenced by the media and such. Consider people after considering their personal actions, not just the actions of their countrymen, friends, or family.

Harvey, if you get some good answers to this pass them on to the leaders of our planet. Generalizing by race and religion are the things that seem to be causing the fear and hatred in this world. I guess all we can do is try to look for the best in each other. I know that's a rather Pollyanna outlook but it seems to be better than beating the hell out of each other when we aren't really sure why we feel that way.
I have come back to this answer because Harvey, I am pretty sure you are white. I am also white but here is the problem. From the tone of your question, it seems like you aren't trying to stop being racist, you want to condone your racism. I guess if the world could turn you we might have a chance.

Well, admitting you have a problem is the first step. Stop generalizing, there are good and bad people - regardless of race. Maybe you should educate yourself by learning about different cultures, nationalities, races or groups of people. Usually racism comes from ignorance and fear. Don't limit your circle of friends, don't judge people before you get to know them on an individual, and be open minded. It may take you a very long time to change, but, trying is a good start.

"How can I deny reality?" YOU CAN'T!!!! Listen, there are some stereotypes that hold true for every race. Now, it does not apply to everyone in that race, but it does apply to some. I take it by your avatar that you're black. There are a lot of stereotypes for black people. Do you fit into any of them? Does it offend you when someone stereotypes you? Probably. Just remember that.

just think all races are people with red blood the same as you if certain people are doing things you dislike its not necessarily there race its just there way and if you look at the boarder thing weather your black white or pink they will do them anyway if that the kind of person they are.

The trick is not to generalize from the few.
It's usually the bad-behavers which get the attention.
Often that is because they don't have daddies.
Get to know a wider group of people of all races.
Talk about what we have in common too.

from your avatar, you're black, i'm assuming. so you can't be racist, no black person is ever racist, but let a white person even mention race and he's the scum of the earth. so congrats on your race... if you think i'm exaggerating, just try to name one racist black person... he/she doesn't exist... its even true on this website, you are admitting you're racist, but because you're black, people are even telling you that you're not racist, and they don't even know you.. see what i mean, its near impossible for a black person to be racist... oh there's plenty of instances where professers in colleges proclaim things like, "white people should be killed off planet", yet the media doesn't report on it, because its a black person saying it, if a white college professor said all blacks should be killed, everyone in the world would know his name and all about him, we wouldn't hear the end of it.

don't be racist. racism is a huge sign of ignorance. For example: the stereotype of orientals not being able to drive well. Personally I HATE bad drivers...however for me to say i hate orientals for their driving...or I hate oriental drivers is just ignorant. grow up please.
