probably that part of your house is haunted..since it has not been used (or not frequently used) for a long time.. some spirits came there to claim it's their area. .yes, if it brings you fear and threatens to hurt you it is most likely an evil entity...

Jimmy, the overwhelming majority of Revelation is Symbolic so why isn't this also? It is. Old English used the word Mark, but did you know that there are over a dozen definitions for the word mark? Study the bible a bit and you'll find that what you do - marks you. What you think - also marks you in a Spiritual sense. Read Ezekiel 9:4 and it says for the Angel went throughout the city putting a "mark" on the "forehead" of everyone who What?____ (sigh and cry for all the abominations committed). So what does this tell you? The mark is a sign between you and them over what you Think.

Wow! Sounds kinda wierd!
If it only happened the couple of times (and none since), perhaps it was someone in your house (a younger sibling) trying to scare you?
I know you said you did not think your house was haunted, but that was the first thing that came to my mind - it sounds like a spirit was attached to something in that room, and your presense disturbed it.
So, since you do not think it was your house/room, did you bring something 'new' into the room, that had not been there before, that may have distrubed what ever was in there?
I do not think it was the devil - he is not into little parlor tricks like that. When you have had a visit with the devil, YOU would KNOW it...
That's the best I could come up with - Good Luck on your quest!

I'm not Christian, but even if I were, I'd doubt it. Minds can play tricks on you when you're in a new, unfamiliar area to sleep. I was pretty fearless as a kid, but when my family moved, I suddenly felt as though I saw flashes of something in the dark. I would always panick, and trip over myself to turn on the light. One day though, I turned off the lights and stayed in the dark room until my pulse slowed. In the first moment when my heart was beating really fast, I felt panicked, closed in, but as I calmed my breathing I realized nothing had happened.
Also, houses often make noises in the night while they "settle down". Maybe the sound of the house triggered an inner fear and caused you to imagine more than there was.

Ok, so according to Christian theology, there's this really awful supernatural being called the Devil who tempts all six billion people in the world to sin, and causes misery and destruction everywhere. Plus, he's basically the king of Hell, where all the bad people throughout history have gone. But it turns out that even with all that on his plate, the Devil has some free time on his hands. So how is he going to spend it? I know!! By messing with you in the basement. OK, I'll buy that.

I used to hear sounds in my basements, and sometimes the blinds would shift in the middle of the night even when there wasn't the slightest hint of a breeze. This went on for a few days until I one night I stayed up focused and armed with a torch.
It turned to be a some kind of squirrel. After several failed attempts to trap it, I finally managed to chase it out of the house.

Sounds like an extreme case of paranoia.
What type of heating and air system does the house have? When we moved into a newly built house my son complained of noises in his bedroom. They were caused by the H&A system and echoed and amplified by his nearly empty walk-in closet. These were really creepy, growly noises. After we started using his closet as an additional storage space the noises were dampened and absorbed.

It is good to find out what the Bible says about the Devil and his activities. If you feel the presence of evil in your house you might be right in thinking it. However, there is nothing to worry about. Because the Bible says in 1 John 4:4 "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."
If you are trying to live sinless life and life of devotion and prayer nothing can harm you. God is in control.
Sometimes is just could be a psychological fear. Well you try to find what is in your case. But there are three sources of anything, Natural (psychological), Devil and God. You try to find who is doing what and where.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
There is definetly an unseen world out there that is at war with believers. The enemy loves to use fear to attack us. But read this encouraging verse.
2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your saviour the powers of darkness have no control over you.
1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
God Bless You and remember
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Not the devil himself, but maybe a demonic presence. Of course it could be unrealized fear/discomfort resulting from a change in sleeping location. Pray about it. If it persists, look for a minister who does not dismiss spiritual warfare and discuss your experience with him.
