I love the link Skytrain. Model Jets are going to be tough to build without some serious alloys which can be hard/impossible to machine. You can build a "pulse jet" out of steel fairly easily.

Operating turbo fan or ram jet. Study the function: any thing after the fuel is ignited need to be good steel Ram jet front end can be aluminum. Turbo fans have to spin at high rates of speed and titanium steel and exoitc alloys are used in combination.

Titanium is the best its light wieght heat resistant, and highly durable to with stand high stress cacks.
