i actually got a land line to avoid high cost of mobile phone bills. depending on your phone carrier or service (verizon, t-mobile, ATnT,..etc..) some plans have those unlimited nights and weekends things. so what i do is during the day, when it's considered peak hours according to my mobile phone, i forward my cell number to the land line and talk on that, if i'm away from home i only pick up important calls, if you do have a mobile plan with free long distance then that's great just use that phone to talk long distance and don't use the land line, vise versa. anyhow, i would do your research other than this yahoo Q's ans A's and check out your local ohone programs, it's worth your time to save money especially when you have teens.
p.s. if the girls are old enough to get a job, it's about time they start paying off their own phone bills or help sharing the cost since they help increase most of the bills. Family should always help each other. ;)

I haven't had a landline in almost four years. I don't really mind it - if you have a good carrier, you can get your nights and weekends started at 6PM (meaning that you don't have to pay for any calls you make after that and weekends are free). If you work full time from 9-5 or the equivalent, you really won't even miss your land line because you won't be home to use it! Hope this helps you with your decision!!!

No I still have my landline along with my cell I don't call much log distance though I use my land line the most.I would keep my land line because if
something was to go wrong god forbid to your cell yo can still make calls on your land line. But it's up to you. I hope this helps. The reason why I say if something was to go wrong with your cell phone is because I accidently dropped mine in a puddle of water while walking down the street it just slipped out of my hand.

I haven't had a land line in 8 years. But with teenagers you may want to keep one for a bit. They tend to be on the phone too much to limit minutes. Or you could use your cell phone as your primary phone and limit a land line to only local calls and incoming calls.

No, because when the power goes out, you might not be able to use any kind of phone except a landline phone. Remember that after Katrina hit Mississippi, no one could call out to tell their relatives that they were okay, not even on a cell phone, because the electricity had been knocked out, leaving cell phone towers without power.

No. I did that for three years and regretted it. So I had it reinstalled. I don't use the long distance or caller id, so it costs me less. I just took the basic account. Hope this helps.
